Default Small Ball adventuring guild now recruiting.

Small Ball is an adventuring guild. The goal of Small Ball is to relive the first time playing Everquest in the most complete fashion possible. There was a time when travelling Norrath was a wonderous and dangerous journey. Remember the first time you saw the Dwarf statue over Kaladim? Remember your first boat ride accross the Ocean of Tears? Remember the first time you crossed the bridge from North Karana to East Karana or took the battle with the Runnyeye Goblins to their home? Small Ball wants to relive all of that. We’re not interested in max level or best in slot gear. We want the adventure we signed up for in 1999.

The two primary rules for the guild which are outlined on the Rules Page are a character maximum level of 30 and a No-Twinking policy. These rules are to ensure that the guild stays with the spirit of the adventure and doesn’t succumb to the lure of loot.

Why level 30? Originally it was envisioned that the max level be 20, however, that vastly limits much that can be explored. Also, 30 was chosen because that is about the level that the class boundaries really get defined. Beyond level 30 is when the mainstream leveling route is defined, because much of the best gear can be attained from a few key camps and it does not encourge the spirit of adventure.

Why No-Twinking? If you’re twinked, you have no reason to adventure. Also, this rule goes hand-in-hand with the 30 cap, because if you can’t level beyond 30 and you can’t twink, what is considered best in slot for gear changes dramatically and it promotes adventure and exploration as we have to find new sources to gear our characters. Many often ignored dungeons on the mainstream path of leveling will become sources for upgrades or even best in slot gear such as Runnyeye, Sol A, Dalnir’s, Nurga, Split Paw, Permafrost, Cazic-Thule, Najena, Kaesora and many outdoor camps. Questing will become more relevant too, as many quests you wouldn’t consider bothering with on your journey to 60 will yield some upgrades as well as best in slot items.

If you feel the need to adventure, give Small Ball a shot. Nothing beats the thrill of looting your first cracked staff. To join, read up on the guild at http://smallballp99.wordpress.com and contact the guild leader Dirges in game.
