There's a reason for the "DO NOT SWALLOW" poison warning posted on every tube of toothpaste. It has something to do with fluoride being more toxic than lead and arsenic.
Be sure to rinse your mouth well with water too. I suggest mouthwash too.

If you brush as often as most of us do, then yes, rinse thoroughly to avoid cumulative fluoride toxicity. If you only brush once a month or so, like mickmoranis, then it really doesn't matter.
