Im on Jagged Coast rolling a mystic with my brother who is a lancer. Yesterday we got from 1-22 playing about... 15 hours or so.

As was stated above, combat was simple and without any element of risk until about 20 or so, where it becomes a bit more complex and you have more abilities at your disposal. Doing simple questing there isn't really that sense of risk you get in EQ, but when you add in pvp that helps things.

Me and my bro were outside Lumbertown doing some quests when two outlaws rolled up and attacked us. Pvp is such that, at least with my class, you better have all of your important abilities ready to fire right when you need them. Fight lasted a couple minutes and ended with us killing both of them, it was close though, they almost got me twice. Combat is really very refreshing, relies on quick decisionmaking to do well. Use the right ability right when you need it. You can tell when somebody doesn't know what the hell they are doing.

Will definitely keep me poopsocking until d2 comes out or for 200-300 hours at least. Lacks the depth/innovation it would need for real staying power, it'll definitely never compete with wow/swtor

This coming from an immensely jaded gamer and lifelong basement wizard.

Also I think ive got buddy codes if anyone wants to try it free.
