Welcome to Mortal Online. The thrill of full loot open pvp combat just can't be experianced in EQ, WoW, or any other themepark MMO.
Sounds interesting. Anyone play this? 15 day free trial so might check it out.

Some classic EQ pvper seems to like it here:

There is no perma death in MO, played it for half a year, gonna go back to it when the next patch comes out next month or so. Its a full loot MMO and very fun if you get good enough at it. ATM its not very new user friendly, it kinda drops you into a badass word with a pickaxe and thats it. Next patch will come an awesome new flash UI and alot of stuff to help people understand how to play it when they first start out. Like i have told my friends i would suggest playing it when Awakening comes out.

It is not a game for those that are faint of heart or rage easily.

It plays like skyrim without 3rd person view and has the rule set like UO. If you play a mage in MO you gotta charge your spell target the person with reticles and release the spell to hit them.

It only takes about a week to get a character pvp ready in the game. The crafting characters take longer.

Played for months in beta, then for about 1-2 months after release.

It has a great foundation for a good game, but I personally believe the devs don't understand what it will takes to draw people to the game and make pvp meaningful. The answer to that question is in fighting over progression.

Like I've said a hundred times on dozens of mmo forums - a game needs good pve for it to have good pvp. It needs to be fun in its own rite, for pvp to be worthwhile and meaningful. The game needs progressive pve, itemization and long term guild goals, all of which should be hard to achieve and require the acquisition of rare crafting items from mobs and the environment in dangerous (pve/pvp) areas. I've played just about every pvp mmo ever, and regardless of how great the pvp was, unless you have something meaningful to fight over (pve), pvp means almost nothing. Thats why Mortal pvp is so boring.

That said, I have been watching it and the next patch ("expansion", pff) looks promising.
