New Star Trek series premiered last night.

It was .. not exactly what I was hoping for, but might be worth watching.

The pilot episode was on regular cbs, yet subsequent episodes will be on some new 'cbs all access' paid subscription. I think it is a bad/bold plan to limit viewing of an already old, derelict tv franchise, but we'll see.

Anyways, at least there is new Star Trek?
yes at least there is a new Star Trek, and it is called The Orville.

I noticed this on Netflix. I have not had a chance to watch but plan on it. Thank you for stating what you thought of it. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I'm a fan of the older star treks. So the reason I don't like the newer movies is they're geared towards a newer younger viewer. Yeah it's still star trek but at the same time it's almost not.

That's why I'm skeptical, I hope the new show is good but I'm going in with low expectations.

I agree. My wife is a Trekkie now thanks to TNG. Data especially. I thought the newer movies were just money grabs. They could have done so much better with a more "mature" cast or some Star Trek lore incorporated in the movies.

I think it has potential.

However I saw a comment somewhere, where someone said that this show seems like it would have been great had it NOT been attached to Star Trek. It's understandable that they want to use the Star Trek name and universe to attract viewers, but I think having the freedom away from that universe would have been nice. We'll see.

Also, the opening title sequence was a huge rip off from The Expanse. I'm looking forward to the new season of that show as well.

Agree completely. This feels exactly like "ITS BEEN A LONG TIME... GET'N FROM THERE TO HERE" to me...

Mixed with a little bit of JJ Abrams "LETS REMAKE STARTREK LIKE STARWARS!"

I dont need to look back on the past, I want to look into the future with startrek! I dont care about the origin story of the klingon bullshit, I want to see where we go with them as allies, maybe 150 years after TNG, like TNG was showing us where we went 150 years after the war with the klingons.

Personallly to me this feels like non cannon startrek world, which is just JJ abrams board room circle jerking and a cash grab from melinials that like MTV and dont like startrek, to get them to LIKE startrek more.

Im not into it. Not at all.

We all know where the non TNG timeline ends up anyway, so why the fuk do I care about its origin?

I'm liking The Orville as much as Discovery. Probably more? Gonna wait to see what happens.

I couldn't care less about it. It requires a subscription. Screw that, I already pay for cable.
