Hey everyone, I was forever waiting for a EQ server like back in the day and i was searching through forums and i stumbled across this server and i finally made a account. I use to play a bard on Mithaniel Marr a long time ago. I was in many great guilds and the have so many fine memory's of the game itself. I had a good time in qeynos today leveling up my bard.
The only bad thing i have ran into already which i am not to fond of was this 1018 "your char is still active crap eh. i have been waiting several hours for my account to come back so i can play. I read of some posts on this forum that it may never come back from that 1018 state which i pray it does not.. I would really hate to have to put more invested time in a char i leveled up already to get no where lol.. my in game name is mindail, i hope to see everyone soon if this 1018 thing goes away. :confused::mad:

Seems to be an indefinitely timed error. Some folks hang out for 5 min and can log in. Others........RIP.

No, the guides have said not to petition for help with this error.
I suggest searching the technical forum for 1018 error and make a decision based on the information you read there.
Some have suggested a password change at EQ EMU helps.
It was strongly suggested to me to make a new account when mine was plagued with the same error. I did it, and have not had the error on my new account. Ever. I log in every day. That was two months ago.

I used to get this error all the time.. it would last hours or days.
It stopped completely months ago when I started exiting the game using /camp
Don't exit any other way, just /camp
This doesn't help you right now but do it once you get in again.
It doesn't help me. I always /camp and still get 1018 sporadically. I'll see it daily for a week and then not at all for a week or two.
Only resolution I've had, which may be coincidental, is to to a round of password changes (EQEmu and LS) and wait a few minutes.
I petitioned and received the expected "bummer, we are trying to fix it, so someday". I petitioned again asking for a character transfer and it looks like it's up to Rogean when/if he ever gets time to deal with something that small.
If you just started, start over. There's little more frustrating than having a rough day and getting 1018 when you finally get the opportunity to wind down, relax, and play some games.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that the CSR staff can do to resolve this issue for an account. The only resolution is time.
If you encounter this error, please just be patient and will eventually clear itself. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours to clear.
Petitions for active characters may be moved and resolved without reply, as there is nothing we can do for these. Hopefully over time we'll find a resolution and rid the server once and for all of this error.

Being patient is really difficult when the game randomly decides to lock you out for a few hours to a day seemingly at random.
I know Rogean has a lot on his plate and a real life like the rest of us; I wish there were a way to verify account ownership and automate character transfers to new accounts. Maybe when SMS is finished?

I would suggest you make a new account and see if you get the error anymore.
