I see alot of higher end players on here ragging on you guys, harassing you for this and that.
This may not matter to you, but i just wanted to ensure you know that there are tons of us average players thoroughly enjoying your server. Every other fellow newb i play with and meet feels the same.
If the stress of appeasing some irate hardcore raiders ever makes you consider stopping the project, please think of us :p

I agree 100%.
Thanks developers, et.al who make this work.
Same here.
It takes a special kind of douchebag to rag on someone who spends their time developing a free to play game.

Anyone who complains about a free service that is of the same quality as the P99 server needs to check into a mental clinic or check out of life. It is indicative of mental illness to be such a whiner.

I also feel the need to make one of these posts every time the whiners crop up.
Bravo!

... and this is just a personal hang-up of mine but I'm not even comfortable calling P99 a "free" service. It certainly isn't free to keep the infrastructure up and running, and more importantly, the time of the Devs isn't "free" in the true definition of the word.
Therefore it's all the more impressive that P99 has even happened, considering there weren't a buncha guys running around with dollar signs in their eyes or the promise of financial incentives. There may have been some peripheral incentives for the people involved (even if it's just bragging rights), but I'd say a genuine love of classic EQ is what has fueled this thing. These guys should never be in a position where they have to beg for donations, and I'll do my part to make sure that doesn't happen.

Agreed, the server is incredible. Thanks for all the hard work and don't let the few loudmouths get you down.
Definitely need to start donating a sub fee to P99!

I suppose donation based is better terminology. Thanks.
Its not because we criticize that we dont appreciate, in fact some criticize because they appreciate. But... OP is right, good job on making this server what it is, a place where you can group with others and experience classic EQ again.

@phelanka: I wasn't picking on you, honest. I'm just saying I, personally, try to avoid calling it "free" as I try to see it from the Devs' point of view.

LOL. I know you weren't pickin on me. I have a thick hide, trust me. I'm married to a Jewish American Princess.
But you raised a valuable point. To me, emulators of MMOs are like PBS (Public Broadcast System) or NPR (National Public Radio). Sure they aren't glitzy and cutting edge but they deliver services free of charge, advertising, and gimmicky programming. But they are made possible by players like you ;)
The developers most certainly need our support. And like Taxi said, while some may interpret complaints as whining, constructive criticism is what is needed most I think. Unfortunately I think there is a fine line between the two.
Agreed all of the above. I'm really enjoying re-living EQ and appreciative of the developers sacrifices to make it happen.
