Bard dual weild

I have played a bard on EQ for as long as I can remember, and I do not remember not being able to not dual wield an instrument and weapon in the old days.

Just dinged my bard 17 and I cannot equip a instrument in my off-hand, am I missing something??

Take off your primary weapon. The only instruments you can dual wield are PRIMARY instruments and epic. I know the sky flute is a PRIMARY instrument, can't think of any others off the top of my head. PS: this question would be better answered in the "melee" archetype section.

Thank-you - its a shame you can't dual wield secondary instruments, always assumed you could... I shall post in the melee section in future.

I believe Lyran's Lute out of VP and Denon's Horn from PoSky are also primary usable. I don't think there is a primary drum until Drums of the Beast in Velious.

Yes I believe you are right - I vaguely remember being annoyed of the fact no primary drum existed until Velious -oh well, that is out next month! thanks guys.

Maybe need to get some gnomes to fashion together a one man band setup, have your drum on your feet (moving = banging sounds), strum the lute and mount the flute so its near enough your mouth to play.

Standard instruments were 2-handed items just like real instruments until 2006 as far as i know so i guess that's the year that the gnomish one-man-band devices were introduced on Live. ;)
