View Full Version : "Error 1018" What a Nightmare

I have read that there is no real way to fix this error 1018, but I have previously been able to log onto my account (at times I as unable to). Now I cannot log on at all it seems due to the error and I am advised to make a new account. there has to be a beter answer to this. I cannot face losing over approximately 100,000 plat in gear. If I cannot get my gear transferred somehow to the new account or get this issue resolved, I feel like I will have absolutely no drive to play EQ on p99 any longer. I simply will not spend another 3 or more months of my spare time reacquiring the gear. This is a major threat to all players on p99 and simply has to be resolved either by GM intervention or computer tech efforts. IT is really unacceptable that a player is just supposed to accept losing everything that they put their time into acquiring and to just start over. I need a solution to this problem. If I do manage to get onto my primary account again ill do what I can to transfer the gear, but If I cannot, there is nothing I an really do without GM intervention/help. Anyone who can provide any useful information to me about this problem, or anyone who has a solution to fix it please inform me so that I can bring an end to the nightmare of "error 1018." thank you for your time and attention to this matter.

Damn man, I can understand your frustration. Were you ever able to get help with this?
How long has it been since you were able to access the account?
I feel confident you will have access to it again to get your gear off.

All the "solutions" that you see on these forums are merely coincidental fixes with no discernible pattern to them.
I have been trying to raise attention on this issue for weeks now. However, as seen in the linked post, this bug is likely to have existed for a few years now (see patch notes related to implementing 1018.)

There is no fix to this issue.
As arosian stated above, any solution is generally just a coincidence. Gm's cannot fix this issue, and all us tech junkies likewise have no easy answer.
We do understand your frustration - trust me, this bug has affected a lot of us on here, and we understand where you're coming from. Demanding that it get fixed is not going to change anything, though.
You *will* be able to log back into your account. Error 1018 is always temporary, and sometimes goes away on it's own. There are no guarantees it wont happen again, however. I know it sucks to lose a few months of work in an MMORPG, and you don't have to choose to make a new account (some people do just deal with it), but there are people who have lost a LOT more time than that due to this bug.
Gm's *have* tied to figure out a solution, and it's just not going to happen. It affects a really small percentage of the population, and even though it's an awful, terrible thing, it's likely going to stick around. So weigh your options carefully and decide what's best for you. If it only took you a few months to get 100k+ gear then consider yourself pretty well equipped to start from scratch if you needed to. Not everyone is that good at playing the trade game.

I only get this error on newer created accounts. I first got this error on what was going to be a ec mule account, so I read what everyone says and made another account. I now have this happening to me on that account. I never get this error on my older accounts.

There doesn't seem to be an interest in fixing this problem. I've tried for months to bring attention to it, and even created a detailed bug request about it. I've received 0 responses from developers.
