Not quite sure if this is the right forum, but I'm getting desperate.

I've followed all of the installation and set up guides to connect to the Project 1999 server, but when I try to connect, my client freezes until I shut it down.

What can I do to fix this? I'm running a fresh Titanium client, no patching.

try window mode

It is on window mode, although it might just be windowed because I have a widescreen monitor

check your eqclient.ini for "WindowedMode=TRUE"

Are you running from inside a firewall? Can you ping eqemulator.net? Are you getting to the server select screen? How long are you waiting to shut down? Can you connect to any other eqemu servers?

Okay, I've made some progress, now it doesn't say it's frozen after I connect, it just stares at the server list.

Not sure how to interpret this - you mean when you hit the Play Everquest button it freezes?

Please provide details on how you're connecting to the net, at school/work? Through a router?

What computer and OS? Multicore CPU?

Regards,
Mg

Have a look at this thread and make sure you've set affinity to one core, might help.

I am going to try to reinstall it, I did have to move the entire EQ folder because of Vista issues, and that may of f*cked something up.

Still no luck :(

Be more specific on what the current symptom is? Still locking up after server select?

Regards,
Mg

PS Install Ubuntu 10.04 or Windows XP, destroy Windows Vista disc, piss on shards.

I had a similar problem connecting to EQEmu servers at my brother's house. My client would freeze after clicking "Enter World" or whatever that button is called on the char select screen. I suspected the router immediately since I had successfully logged on to EQEmu servers with the same client and computer at another location. (Which is a great way to see if your connection is the problem)

My problem was caused by an incorrect router setting--the "Encapsulation" setting. This setting is different depending on your ISP. Once I fixed this setting, I was able to connect with no issues. The interesting thing is that all of my other online applications were working prior to this change--with the incorrect settings-- and continue to function well now

Anyway, hope this is of some help. I puzzled over this one for a week. It may be worth a try to call your ISP and double-check all of your router settings.

Had this same problem. Its caused by EQ trying to load a resolution it doesn't know how to deal with. Deleting eqclient.ini or reloading default display settings prior to connecting is how to fix it.
