Everyone keeps asking what's needed. But what is there too much of? Who shows up to a raid and is told, "yeah, get in line, please"? Who answers your call for more group members every time, and has to be refused because there's three in your group already?

The class breakdown is actually pretty good. There aren't too many over-populated classes. Monks are highly popular, however most raid groups prefer to have a supply of spare monks and they stack well anyway. Shamans also tend to be numerous but most folks don't want to be the only shaman on a raid so that's also not much of a problem. Most level-capped Druids are used for non-combat utility purposes so their raid population isn't huge.

Nobody ever has to sit out of an EQ raid because there's no limit on how many people you can bring. Having too many of one class merely reduces the rate at which an individual will receive class-specific items.

Outside of the raiding game there's no problems with population balance whatsoever. Since many Necromancers, Druids, and Shamans (three of the four most popular classes) prefer to solo, their active grouping population is fine. Monks are numerous, but they stack as well in groups as they do in raids--being good pullers, great damage, and adequate tanks if needed.

Too many shamans.
Too many druids.
Too many bad monks.

I see more Shamans on P99 than I ever saw on live... I think we need more tanks :)

I agree, seems like half the people who played a tank of live are playing a shaman now. Don't think I've grouped with an actual warrior yet.

:p FWIW, for the level 20 and under groups, shamans are tanking to make up for no tanks.

Paladins. Because 1 paladin is too many. Til brells I guess, then we can get the 1 paladin per raid :P. Just like the beastlords...

shamans are tanking to make up for no tanks.

Definitely a tank shortage, however...everyone is feared out of playing a SK or paladin because of the fear they won't get groups, which isn't the case at all.

The tank shortage while levelling makes you almost guaranteed to get a group to stop chain classes from having to do it. Embrace your hybrid tanks :)

Everybody. It's p99.

It's as if the end-game raid mobs are going for some kind of record of how many people will wait in line to get a chance to be considered by a loot council whether they can get a loot item.

Sounds like some strange form of Japanese porn, to me. I highly suspect there are dark rooms of very high income Japanese salarymen masturbating to all this.

I don't think it matters what is over populated or under populated in any game.

If you don't play what you enjoy, you will quit the game.

Play what sounds fun and interesting in any capacity you want to play the game (solo, group, raid - look what each class's role is in each scenario to determine if it sounds fun - weigh what you want to do most in your decision).

At the end of the day, I think you'll find no matter what class you choose you'll do just fine.

I've always enjoyed playing the rarer race/class/sex combinations. it's nice to stand out and not just be the generic ogre warrior or dwarf cleric. Erudite chick sk please
