Enchanter Race?

Hey, I was just wondering what people thought the best enchanter race would be? Does the dark elf hide make a huge difference? Or is higher int/cha of erudite or high elf better?

Hide is overrated, it's nice for when you afk for a long time and don't want someone to train you, but other than that it's not a reliable source of breaking charm.

Hey, i'll agree hide is fantastic when it works, but having it fail 3 times in a row sort of messes things up and makes you wish you'd just memmed invis since it would have been quicker.

Erudites have a higher total of int+cha. Dark elves have hide but invis or pots are more reliable.

Best enchanter race is High Elf imo because most people who play enchanter are stuck up snooty bitches just like High Elfs.... the other option is Dark Elf which signifies that you're a cool enchanter, likely to pass out clarity to newbs and not go AFK on your group after you're done buffing resulting in wipes due to adds.

Everything I've read and everyone I've talked to says yes.

If you want to min/max stats, be an Erudite. You also get Blackburrow, which is great XP thanks to fangs.

If you want to do Stein of Moggok at level 8 and have Hide, which can be handy with Charming, be a Dark Elf. You also get EC tunnel, which is great for the occasional gear handout, some low-level moneymaking, and buffs that make leveling much faster.

Otherwise, pick whatever you think looks the coolest. Yes, you can use illusions to look like whatever you want -- but at the end of the day, you will always want your "true" form to look cool.

this is important. picking a deity as an enchanter is probably the biggest way to fuck up character creation for any class.
