1. Pit Bulls are commonly used as therapy dogs. Whether they are visiting a senior care facility or helping someone recover from an emotional accident, Pit Bulls are making a mark as outstanding therapy dogs.
2. Pit Bulls are used in Search and Rescue work. One example of well known SAR Pit Bulls is Kris Crawford and her dogs. Kris and her dogs have helped save the lives of many people during their efforts.
3. Pit Bulls serve as narcotic and bomb sniffing dogs. One Pit Bull, Popsicle (named that because he was found in an old freezer) has the largest recorded single drug find in Texas history. Read more about Popsicle here. Including how he found over 3,000 lbs of cocaine in Hildago, Texas.
4. Pit Bulls are great with kids. They weren't referred to as the "nanny's dog" for nothing that's for sure.
5. Pit Bulls are not human aggressive. The American Pit Bull Terrier as a breed is not human aggressive. In fact, quite the opposite is true of the breed. They are gentle and loving dogs. Like any dog individuals can be unsound and have behavior problems.
6. The Pit Bull was so popular in the early 1900's they were our mascot not only in World War One, but World War Two as well. They were featured on recruiting and propoganda posters during this time period.
7. Sgt. Stubby. A Pit Bull war hero. Stubby was wounded in action twice, he saved his entire platoon by warning them of a poison gas attack and he single handedly captured a German spy.
8. Pete the Pup on the orginal Little Rascals was a Pit Bull.
9. Pit Bulls score an 83.4% passing rate with the American Temperament Test Society. That's better than the popular Border Collie (a breed who scores 79.6%). View the ATTS stats here.
10. They are dogs not killing machines.

On our walk this morning, my bull dog tried to murder:
A) several birds
B) several squirrels
C) a smaller bull dog
But he's real good around dogs he's previously dominated and is getting better with people!

he's mixed with a German short-haired pointer (GSP), though, so he's even more obsessed with hunting and killing and eradicating inferior breeds than normal
French bull dogs and English bull dogs are both KOS

Our previous dog, lost due to cancer miss you buddy!, was a boxer english bully mix and was abused quite badly when we got him. Took months really over a year before he finally settled down.
English bullies gotta be one of my fav breeds.

my dog has bitten my 7-year-old adopted brother (he's black) in the face. he's attacked my biological brother (big white dude), but granted, my brother tried to bite him first.
he bit me on the thigh when he was fighting with a staffy a couple weeks ago. he bit me on the crown of my head as i was getting into bed this weekend.
but he's getting better with people.

Tons of other breeds out there that are more docile, friendly and haven't got that unpredictable streak in them.
Depends what you want a pit bull for...to look tough? An EQ player probably needs to up his #swag on the streets.

Birds carry disease.
Squirrels are hellspawns.

Stick with cats. You clearly are uneducated when it comes to dogs. Please don't post dumb YouTube videos in response. Once again, bad dogs are the result of shithead owners.

Definitely not, theres no reason to attack this thread. Hopefully the instigators won't post a ton of terrible videos, the thread is to help inform people that do not understand how those dogs( all breeds not just pitts have attacked humans at some point ) have become the way they are.
its not the breed, its how they are raised.

Lol. Facts that the media drive down your throat. You obviously didn't click on either of my links. .
It's the same same bullshit that happened in the 90's with Rottweilers, Dobermans and German Shepherds.
I'm not denying there have been fatal attacks by pitbulls. The reason you hear of them all the time is because its all the media reports on. Notice it just says "a dog" rather than the breed if it isn't a pitbull.
Anyways,
Keep on with your sheltered ignorance and media skewed stats. Soon they'll find a new breed after they murder all of the pitbulls that have done nothing wrong.

lol, you think your pitbull biased links are going to change the fact that those dogs have killed children? Dachshunds snap at owners hands, sure, but have they gone at the jugular?
And I'm not denying shit either. Just as you said, there are fatal attacks every year from pitbulls, including small children. I'm not denying other dogs have done the same, I'm just stating that they have, and remain killing people every year.

Pitbulls aren't inherently a mean breed, they have developed a stigma as being a dangerous dog, so dangerous douchebag people tend to own them more often and teach them to do dangerous douchebag things.
Border collies still the best though.

All dogs go for the jugular. It's how they kill. You know cause they're a wild fucking animal bred by humans. A chihuahua just killed a little boy last week. Quit with this pitbulls only kill kids shit.

This isn't an attack only on pitbulls, other dogs have killed people too. But do not deflect the fact that pits kill people, more than any other breed. You cant deflect truth by saying "It's okay because other dogs have done the same!!!"

You're referring yourself after an edit in which I had already responded.
I'm not deflecting anything, you're just not understanding my point. Ill try to elaborate for you.
Because of the dumbass owners of pitbulls, they could give a fuck about them and will tie them up, leave them to die or they will find no other use for them and throw them to the street. This is all of course after beating them because they are awful human beings. This makes it so there are more stray pits than any other dogs around. These dogs don't trust humans for obvious reasons. I'd kill a human after it treated me like that. However if these pits aren't killed, they are usually rescued and become great pets. Most of the pit attacks you speak are from strays, not from domesticated pits.
I just think all dogs should be generalized the same. Especially cause half of these "pitbuls" arent true pits, there are many in the bully breed that get mistaken for pitbulls when really they're not. Again, if it was TL;DR for you. More stray pits than other breeds = more attacks.

Are you insinuating that I can't read? Anyway, however you want to spin it, pits and pit mixes kill and attack more people every year than any other breed of domesticated dog. I work in EMS, I've literally ran dozens of calls for dog attacks, and what do you think the dog is that does the attacking majority of the time?

That's because they are not. They test better than most breeds on the ATTS temperament test. Probably cause they're smart and planning to attack all sorts of babies though. I'd link you the the national testing website but that shit is pitbull biased even though it tests all breeds.

If you'd clicked on the first one you would have read there are too many strays to know an exact number of strays in the US. And that LA area has grown by 40% in pits equaling in over half of the dogs in that area but that was both strayed and domestic.
