Killing them is one thing, but why not just offer the loot they don't need/can't sell to players who can use them? Why would they destroy it and deprive others of a potentially nice piece of equipment that TMO has no use for?

Loot generally isn't destroyed, unless it's total trash gear like warhammers of divine grace which are left to rot. Most of the stuff is actually awarded, and any crap items that are useless/worthless are left to rot. If someone asks, it generally is given away, but people rarely ask for such low quality loot.
