Not being able to fall asleep is scarier than falling asleep is.

Then again this one time I was at the only golf course in Tibet, thought I'd mess with them, pretend I was a looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald...striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver, he hauls off and whacks one- big hitter, the Lama- long, into a ten-thousand foot crevice, right at the base of this glacier. And do you know what the Lama says? "Gunga galunga...gunga- gunga lagunga."
So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know?" And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness."

So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

"I won't even know I'm dead, you wanna know why? Cause I'll be fucking dead.

I don't even want the option of heaven, an eternal state of thinking. I hate thinking as it is. Where's my passport, can't punch women in the face. I don't care how blissful they say it is, it's eternal, you'll get used to it and you'll be fucking bored."

Pretty much how I think of it too.

who knows what happens when you die... its unknown and that frightens people into believing fairy tales. live now and figure out what happens when it happens.

prob just reborn into another version of you in the multiverse. If time and space are inconsequential in the universe, and the human soul is an finite substance. It makes sense to use them to get through the mathematical equation of the universe. If all choices have to be chosen, and all paths have to be crossed. It would be logical to recycle your essence into another version of you again and again.

What did you feel before you were born? It will be the same after you die, nothing to worry about.

Atheism feels so uninspired :/

And I wonder why certain atheists are so quick to judge other religions, when they're willing to blindly believe that all there is to existence is what they can measure. I'd rather be wrong and discover some ineffable and Awesome Truths than be a factually correct wet blanket.

The Kingdom of Heaven, true spiritual awakening, and the end of self-delusion await me, whether I happen upon it in death or in life. And you atheists can rot in the ground if you want; I'll be composted and used to grow beautiful flowers :)

Atheism is equally as large a copout to logical reasoning of your environment as blind faith in any religion is.

Way to make agnosticism uncool, Harrison.

Being alive could just be a series of chemical reactions. Almost too simple of a concept that we need to put a layer of meaning on top of it.

It depends on your life I'm guessing. If your life is pretty good (mine is at the moment) the concept of death is extremely heart breaking. There are so many things to witness and experience. Even if you do them all that all dies with you. Makes writing, art and any other medium of expression seem VERY important.

Now if your life blows death seems like a decent escape.

I think religion not only serves to keep the masses in line, but also to encourage people to enjoy their lives and be productive.
