View Full Version : Bluest live server?

Because this is important.
I'm voting SZ, because they allowed for training instead of pvp, and their raid tactics often involved just a single hacking bard with a big train (like all blue servers, I'm pretty sure).

VZ had item loot for longer, and that right there may qualify TZ as bluer. But there are tons of other differences as well; the #1 raid guild on VZ stayed light well into PoP, maybe longer. All the TZ guilds started 4-teaming much earlier.

All of EQ was broken post luclin, so who cares what was going on on any zek server after luclin release? At least item loot was there for a while until augs nerfed item loot before the merger.

Vallon Zek was the bluest for sure, it was my server and when i came to EMU i had never really experienced real pvp, and i played on vallon for atleast 2 years.
Shit was so blue it was almost project 1999 with /duel

What between <amazons> cybering for pixels and community enforced rules of no one attacking someone who was fighting mobs did i miss? Vallon Zek was awesome, people respected the rules, lns, code of honors and gave a shit about their reputation, i loved it. But for this poll i think that puts VZ as the most "blue" server of the pvp servers.
Only a handful were breaking the community enforced rules, and they were outcasts because of it

I'm very openly biased in favor of VZ community enforced-rules, and keeping that in mind I must say that attacking an opponent on mobs seems really blue to me. It certainly makes pvp much, much easier for the person attacking, and also severely cuts down on the time/fun spent pvping. I've certainly gotten lots more kills since I figured out that attacking on NPCs isn't considered grief here.
And the Red99 community is still confusing me. First I was like, "Why is no one waiting for people to finish up with kills so we can enjoy our pvp more?" and they called me a bluebie. Just yesterday when I attacked someone while they were engaged with stuff (and still lost, damn bard stun), they started attacking me before I could get to my corpse to lns. The reason? "You attacked me while I had mobs."
Make up your damn minds!

Honest guy smedy ^. I voted for tallon only because it was the first of VZ/TZ i saw on the list, and before I saw runlvlzzero's post about not calling any of the pvp servers blue because thats a cool guy thing to do also.

VZ wasn't blue at all. We had honor is all. I had much much much fun pvpiing on VZ all day long there. You took control of zones for 1hour at a time, then it was pvp time again. So you got ur pve in and pvp.
VZ was awesome and I'd love to play back in those days on Daak / Brega. Good ole Ancient Dawn

All servers are a joke compared to TZ. We won the game by killing everyone after the merge. Go ahead, tell me all the good players quit. Doesn't change the fact that Pandemonium owned all your shitty blueberry ass servers. I remember our website used to be Pandemonium.cc. Didn't know what cc was but I always liked thinking of it as Corpse Camp.

To me being red is expecting that everyone will train you, CC you naked and PVP you each chance they get so you need to be smart about how you move around and make it as stealthy as possible.
None of that "red" chivalry bullshit. To my ears its like someone complaining in eve online that he got ganked while he was killing pirates and that it was un-pvp like of the ganking player to do it. Well you know what, play better, dont PVE when theres hostiles in zone. If you dont drop PVE when you /who and theres hostiles in zone, dying should make you learn this, if not youll stay bad at the game, and at pvp games in general.
You could act like an anti-pk, i was one on rallos. I play(ed) both sides of the coin, thats my role playing. In darkfall i played a bastard, to contrast from EQ live where i was the good guy. But affirming that this anti-pk behavior is what pvp is all about, and if you dont proceed this way, you are not a real pvper, is simply ludicrous.
The essence of a PVP rpg game is conflict, and i dont mean duels.

I didn't play a bard on Live except for in Underfoot/House of Thule. Its a lot different then classic where I only started playing here 8 months ago. How long have the other bards been playing here against each other?

As you mentioned..literally anyone that liked good games already quit before the merger. O think I'm speaking for most PvP players when I say I don't care what happened after game wasn't worth playing.

Well, PVP and dueling is something completely different, to me PVP is where you take every point of advantage you can to win.
Dueling is more like waiting for your opponent to kill the mobs and then say "okey sir, prepare to die" and engage.
Don't get me wrong, playing on EMU has not made my everquest experience better, i felt more close hearted about EQ before i came here and became and ruined my immersion.
I was always on the short team though, so for you faerie, i'd probably pk you when you turned your back, I was a master gnome jumping from platform to platform in elf city pking elfs left and right, i think i ruined my faction on atleast 3 characters just doing that lol

I knew better than to turn my back to a gnome, and KoSed the server as elf purist/4team anyway. Waiting for the mobs to die wasn't like having a duel, it was respecting your opponents enough to get around the lame xp loss mechanic and have more fun. Not like after the mobs died anyone was like, "Okay, med time! I'm FM, but let me know when you guys are ready."
We still had to constantly check who was in zone, because if we pulled something we could barely handle and pvp showed up, we would pay for it. If anything, I think our way of doing things encouraged the fun aspects of pvp while limiting the factors that caused people to ragequit (bindrushing, bindcamping, CC, exp loss), and this resulted in meaningful pvp that happened every single day. Compare this to RZ, where attacking another player was taboo, or SZ (bluebie trainfest), or TZ (not as prominent trainfest), and we come out on top imo.
Vallon Zek was where a pvp kill counted as a win, and we'd rather enjoy our pvp than get grief kills :)

Item loot
4 level range

im biased since i was on SZ but ill take the trainfest/no play nice rules over crossteam buffs/immortal heals. plus you could only have 1 char so having an alt was a 2nd sub. I was on VZ from open til SZ open and SZ just had much tighter knit teams because you were stuck with each other unless you had a 2nd sub or deleted your toon.
it doesnt get any bluer than all the top guilds hand-holding to kill some stupid unkillable dragon
