The House minority leader was asked during a press conference what she thought of Bachmann's intense denunciation earlier in the day of the Supreme Court's historic rulings in favor of gay marriage.
"Marriage was created by the hand of God. No man, not even a Supreme Court, can undo what a holy God has instituted."
She replied with a shrug:
"Who cares?"
As slightly amusing as this story is and how little people give a fucks about Michele Bachmann and her antics these days, it does beg another question about the ignorance surrounding the motives of the GOP.
Let's start with a simple example: "Marriage was created by the hand of God"
Actually, it wasn't. Marriage as an institution has been around since before recorded history in both Asia and practiced by the ancient druidic peoples of the present day British isles. It was later adopted by the ancient Greeks, Egyptians and other pre-Abrahamic cultures and finally modified to fit the needs of the post-exodus Israelites.
It's obviously not politically correct (Fuck political correctness) for people to be called out on it openly when they make such ignorant statements but it doesn't have to stay that way.
