View Full Version : Best food combos
I'm sitting here snacking and thought about this. I cant be the only one who has slightly odd odd food combinations. What are some of your favorites? I'll post some examples.
-popcorn and sliced cheese. Take a little piece of cheese, and some popcorn and eat together
-hard pretzels (pref larger pretzels) and iced tea. Pop some pretzel in your mouth, and take a swig of iced tea (clover farms icy tea). The tea makes the pretzel a tad soggy but its damn good.
-potato chips added to any sandwich

For some reason people think it's odd that I put syrup on bacon. But if you've ever had pancakes and bacon, then it happens naturally. The sweetness of the syrup goes well with the saltiness of the bacon.

I dont think its odd. Odd is when i see people put ketchup in their scrambled eggs, or worse yet, ketchup on a hotdog. I put syrup on my breakfast sausage links. I got the idea watching The Burbs when I was a kid. Since then I treat syrup as the ketchup of breakfast. It goes well with any breakfast food.
Another one I thought of was Fritos with Frito-Lay bean dip + Frito-Lay cheese dip.

Peanut butter and tuna with cayenne. Laugh but it's like having an Asian peanut sauce.
I often dip my Cheetos in salsa. So hot sauce doesn't sound too odd. New Orleans born and raised, so I'll put hot stuff on nearly anything.
And Marmite has become one of my favourite condiments, so...

There's a restaurant nearby that has a Peanut butter bacon burger. I gave it a try and was really surprised. It was just the bun, beef, bacon and a huge gob of peanut butter. Try it :)

hot sauce and chicken is "odd" and "gross" to you?
its pretty exotic but there is this food called "chicken wings" served in every sports bar in america that sometimes combines this same flavor pairing.

I like it when an odd combination ends up being greater than the sum of its parts. From my college days, one of my favorites was Chicken Ramen Noodles + Ranch Style Beans.

That doesn't sound odd or gross, actually. That's just Buffalo wings done on the cheap.
Odd and gross would be Hershey's syrup.:p
