Got jumped in Chicago walking home from the bars late the other night by 4 guys, and had my wallet stolen and my face pretty badly fucked up, ended up in the ER for a few hours, but I'm healing pretty fast.

I was pretty drunk, so I'm not sure if I'll get any sort of PTSD (other than being kinda jumpy I feel fine emotionally).

Anyone have any experience with this?

My friend and I got mugged at gunpoint by a gaggle of gangsters when we were teenagers. Still mad my county doesn't issue concealed carry.

I got robbed once.

Okay imagine me, a naive 16 year old working at Del Taco with a couple of my little high school hoodlum buddies. It's like my 3rd week on the job, and I'm working with one of my friends.

We both get off at the same time and hey it's payday! So we grab our checks and go outside, marveling at the measly $70 we each made after Uncle Sam got his share. The bank is right across the street, so we decide we should go over there real quick to cash our checks before going home.

Well, someone overheard our plans. A 20ish year old *****, a familiar face in the neighborhood a kid that I know only as "Florida Boy", is hanging with his pardnas. He's sitting in one of those pedo vans and motions us to go over to him. With 5 gangsta ass *****s staring at us we had no choice but to go over. They then proceed to clown on us and flash a gun our way. I kinda just went numb. You've heard of fight or flight-- I went into fright mode.

What happens next is so comical that it's almost unbelievable. The ringleader 20 yr old ***** marches us by himself across the street to the bank. He wants us to cash our checks and give him the money. He waits outside and we go in. While waiting in line we're like "wtf should we do?" Not wanting to tempt fate, since he's sitting outside with a gun in his belt line, I said "we should just cash our checks, pocket some of the money, and just give him a little bit". So we pocket like $40 each and give him the rest of the money. Which pissed him off that the amount he got was so little, but he was still happy with his loot and didn't stick around for long.

It was gay. I got robbed by a *****. Learned my lesson though, I never flash money/paychecks/anything-of-value around like that anymore. Keep that shit to yourself, don't be naive like I was.

Oh, we also got back at Florida Boy like a year or two later, but that's another story.

I got mugged once when I was 10. They took my backpack when I was walking home from school. I lost my textbook, those hispanic bastards.

This is almost exactly identical to what happened to me, only the kids were Native Americans. :p

I got mugged by poor kids when I was 11 by knife point. They made off with 2 dollars. I found out they lived in the run down "hillbilly" house on top of the hill. Felt bad for them and did nothing after overcoming the initial fear of walking past that house for years to come.

don't know if i would say mugged but i was pick pocketed once at knife-point in Montreal. 3 guys must have had this act choreographed, but basically started a fight with myself and 3 friends while waiting in line for the bathroom at a harvey's. anyway, somewhere amidst the pushing and shoving, they managed to snag my wallet (this was after Wanda's Ultimate Gentleman's club, so only lost about 20 bucks and license). happy ending though- the cops were parked in the alleyway only 1 block down, and when we flagged them down the 3 thieves bolted. 1 (with the wallet) got away, but the other two were caught and tazed into submission. i'd pay 20 bucks for that any day. plus, my wallet was found in a trash can later that evening by police (license included) and returned to our hotel

My friends are all much bigger than me so even though I probably should have gotten mugged by now; I've managed to stay mugging free.

I also got the crazy friend that will probably escalate stuff WAY too far.

Not been mugged but some arab scumbags tried to pickpocket me in Amsterdam one time. Not a very good attempt it had to be said. They were acting all friendly, then one tried to dip my pocket while distracting me. Felt it move, wanted to throw the guy in the canal but wasn't sure if him or his mates had a knife on them...got angry, pushed him, walked away.

Still wish I'd thrown him in the canal...is it murder if he can't swim? :p

I was mugged by a creepy-ass cracker so now I hate all white people, am inherently distrustful of them, and make sweeping generalizations about them based on my experience.

I remember my cousin who lives in Fox Lake telling me he got mugged in Chicago, they fucked him up real good too cause he fought back. Made off with a few hundred in cash. Not sure what part, why he had a grip of money, or the other details.

West Lincoln park. By Ashland and Armitage, I was walking home late under the underpass there. Definitely not a good idea.

Not exactly mugged, but...
Got jumped by a couple Pagans once, in the parking lot of a bar.
Everyone that was there or knows the story, including myself, is amazed I made it out of that situation relatively unscratched.

The fun part came the next day when they found out who I was associated with.
I was told that if I would care to, please show up at that bar again, they wanted to buy me a beer and shake my hand to apologize. The whole thing was ultimately a huge mistake from the start, wasn't me that they were pissed at, they just didn't know it at the time.

Never been mugged, there arent even cities in central maine, but I have had a gun pulled on me. Walking my dog in the trails when I heard LOUD steps and rustling didn't know what it was so i ran back home, I was like 11. all of a sudden a guy comes up behind me on horseback with his daughter who i knew.

He asked me Why you runnin boy?

I told him just to run, this was still on my property.

He asked if I was running from the juvi center, theres a prison in my town that has a juvinelle detention center, there I am in jeans and a tshirt with my Basset hound and he thinks I just broke out of juvi...

anyway he unholsters his gun, doesnt point it at me but still, asks me where i live etc. eventually told me to go home and wouldn't stop starin me down until i was out of sight.

Doesn't relate to mugging or anything but with so few experiences in maine i gotta reach out when I can! This guy lives in my town too, TOTAL NUTJOB, he killed my husky because he claimed it took down a full sized horse. okay my 60lb leaped and took down your full sized horse by the neck, not only once but TWICE because the first shot scared him off but not away...

anyway, it didn't stop me from walking those same trails I do everyday. I'm a little more aware but I'm not carrying a gun with me or running and hiding when the wind blows.

I've been mugged once.

Was walking home from the bar about ten years ago in Colorado Springs and heard a call from behind me. A dude with a scope-fitted rifle was hiding in an alley and had drawn down on me as I passed. He led me back into the alley to a garage and pointed the gun at my face while accusing me of damaging his truck. I hadn't, but he didn't believe me. Finally I had enough and I grabbed the barrel of the gun and pushed it away from my face and we struggled over the rifle for a moment and if I had taken it I would have killed him without a second thought.

As it turned out, though, he had a friend with him whom I had not seen. The guy grabbed me from behind and then the first guy hit me with the butt of the rifle and cracked my head open. I went unconscious for I don't know how long, and when I woke up I was laying in the street and there was blood everywhere.

I staggered to a 7-11 and called the cops to report it and hopefully have them carry me back to the scene of the crime. What came instead was an ambulance and they took me to the ER.

It was New Year's Day, come to think of it--and the emergency room was packed. Someone had died right before I arrived and her body was still on a gurney in the waiting room and it was chaos. I sat there for a few and then I just left.

The next few days I drove up and down alleys with my pistol hoping to find the garage or the truck or the dude, but I never did. Nothing looked the same under the sun. I'm glad I didn't find him.

Nope.

Tony's, I think it was called. Little place down by CC. Was a shop called The Lotus Eater way back in the day.

I had a house downtown on Cache la Poudre so it was only a few blocks to walk.

Oh man, that's a lot of Springs name-droppin' right there.

I was an unwilling participant in a mugging attempt once. Happened on a date. I thought I had scored some macho points with the lady, defending us and all. Turns out, she did not want to date me again, claiming I was "too violent" for her tastes. Guess I should have just let the guys take our shit?

moment he took the gun out of a holster he committed aggravated assault fyi, could've pressed charges and sent him to prison for up to 3'ish years (usually) depending on state laws. Not sure how old you are but these days that is a really easy conviction.

Wife and I had an attempted mugging happen once in the M streets / Greenville area of Dallas.

Guy walked up on us and pulled a knife asking for our cash, watch, jewelry. Poor dumb ass picked the wrong couple. I was reaching into back pocket for wallet while she was reaching into her purse. Little did mugger know she had mace and a taser handy in the purse (luggage). She carries a huge ass bag that I used to give her shit for, not anymore!

He was watching me reach for wallet when she pulled out and the mace and sprayed. That caused him to drop knife. Then I squared my fist into his nose, followed by her tasing him...the poor bastard didn't know what hit him. Can't see, barely breathe, broken nose, & he shit himself while riding the lightning. Wife pop'd him twice.

That was until the cops showed up to take him for his ride to Lou Sterrit. He actually tried to file assault charges on us which the cop thought was hilarious.

This guy tried to mug me at a bank of america ATM with a big knife. I flipped out and told him id kill him with it, then pulled out my phone and dialed 911 while waving for him to come at me... he just yelled fuck you and dipped out behind the bank. Cops were fucking useless afterwards also.
