Just started on Red

My typical strategy for making a little plat for spells is to collect bone chips and pelts. However, there isn't really a way for a sub level 10 to sell his/her wares. What do you guys recommend a newb does to make a little plat?

Go Erudite mage, get bound at gypsy camp in NK around lvl 10. Slay willow wisps, turn in greater/regular lightstones for quest, sell books, profit.
