Anyone else gonna try this for ps3? It is about to come out. Fresh mmos always fun the first few weeks so I may give it a go. Never tried the other FF Online series so itll be pretty new to me. Also might be nice to take a break from PC gaming although I am unsure of how things work using a ps3 controller. Not sure if pvp or not, I am just now really reading about the game. Anyways this thread for anyone else who may give it a go. I believe it releases the end of this month.

really? sounded kinda like eq next in that you can be any class or whatnot. its cool that you dont have to do a job (specialized class.) looks like no pvp outside arena for now which is sad. my only question is if its so horrible why have u been playing it for 3 months?

im lookin at doing archer > bard or the arcanist > summoner as my first build.

They are also going to be on the same server (ps3's can play with pc's). However most pc people will not group with ps3 people for reasons that are...... Well.... Interface and reaction reasons. I think mmo's like this should be kinda segregated and built for each system due to interface. I couldn't imagine playing some classes with a ps3 con.

But that is my opinion ill be there on pc :p

To be fair I only made it to lvl 10. But the ~10m intro I had to watch with the oh so horrible dialog, the fact that it took another 10-20 to get into any combat if you connect the NPC dots. Lots of quick travel...even inside the City. And then when I did finally get to fight I felt like I was playing street fighter.

I will admit I am a confirmed anime hater...so that didn't help my opinion of the game either.


But in my short play time I didn't see anything good and lots of bad. Just my experience tho.

my friend was saying 1-15 is pretty much a tutorial and getting your class quests done or some shit. game really didnt start til after that, at least thats what he said.

looks like a good 20 or 30 people from rerolled are gonna do a guild (called a company or some shit), id check it out if interested. also looks like there will be 2 pvp modes on release, some kind of arena where you can do 4v4 and 8v8. there will also be another thing where guilds can battle each other (im assuming like 24v24.)

at least there is some kind of pvp now. well see.

Now, admittedly, this isn't my style of game but I have a hankering for something kinda new and am going into this game full tilt.

This game is going to be playable Friday for us beta folks and characters are going to carry over to live. I'll be playing on Gilgamesh starting this Friday (taking the day off work) and I'll be taking the first week (August 24-Sept 2) off to have a power start. wow i think this release is gonna eb bigger than they expect. they just threw up 2 new servers today because all the current ones are at max capacity. its in phase 4 beta right now. one things for sure, launch is gonna be a shit sandwich with maximum newb zerg overwhelming the newb lands.

With characters in this beta phase carrying over into release, hopefully it will relieve a lot of pressure on the newbie zones. I've got Arcanist up to 20, Thaumaturgist up to 15, and Conjurer up to 15 as well. Just trying to pad the classes I want to play on release up to a point where I won't have to deal with much of it haha.

Yeah FFXIV doesn't innovate anything, so you need to get over that real quick. What it does do though is it does everything it sets out to do really well.

One thing that really impressed me was the housing zone. It felt just like the old DAoC housing zones, except the houses are prebuilt instead of you building and placing them onto plots. The whole neighborhood though is really well made, it actually looks like a believable town, not some cookie cutter suburb. There's solid character to the way the houses look, which all vary and wind in and out down the streets from crowded street corners to lonely hillside vistas. It was very refreshing to explore through.

I was on Midgardsormr during Beta, plan to keep the same character there. Community during beta was fantastic, and it was my home server for FFXI also.

Early access starts at 5am EST tomorrow morning. Those of you who haven't pre-ordered yet can still get early access. You'll have plenty of time to get patched and ready before it goes live, and there's no difference in price. Basically, there's no reason not to pre-order if you plan on playing.

Better than the unforgivable garbage that is games like GW2 and Neverwinter. It's a real MMORPG, it just has that slightly faggoty Japanese touch that takes some getting used to. Genuinely not a bad game if you want an MMORPG that doesn't try to reinvent the wheel.

i love the fate system, its basically random raid/events that happen all over the place. either a giant plant attacks a town or a swarm of bees. they can happen anywhere and are generally the same level as the place they spawn meaning lowbies are having mini-raids. shit is awesome when newbs start pouring in from every direction to stop an invasion.

kinda weird that it has some eqn things. the invading AI, multiclassing. ff14 kinda snuck up out of nowhere imo.

2 cons right now tho, ill be fair.

1. early access has had its ups and downs. i think they underestimated how many people would preorder BIG time. at one point every server was maxed. they are gonna need to pile on 3x as many server if this keeps up.

2. no pvp at launch, they have plans for various things tho such as guild vs guild vs guild (3 way)

FATEs were cool at first, until you need to grind them for different jobs since there are no more (mostly fetch) quests. Groups of no bigger than 4 people, instanced dungeons, dungeon finder (boo) but also a dungeon finder that takes ages if you're a DPS, no utility classes, meh.

This game looked good at first glance but doesn't hold up to any kind of scrutiny. The developers are newbies and seem like they've only ever seen an MMORPG from second-hand descriptions, and now it turns out that their game has no security whatsoever.

Lol yes, I definitely noticed the spammers today. Its still a fairly new game and patches will come and clean stuff up hopefully. I wish they had a better way to report spam.

Still liking it so far. I'm tired of going from p99 to WoW every 3 months cause I get burnt out. Might as well add a 3rd game in the rotation to mix it up haha.

It's not a bad game by any means, it is polished, just not my thing. I would far prefer non-instanced dungeons (that are physically tied to the world, not ones that you magically transport to), grouping encouraged for most of the game (rather than solo only question lines apart from the required dungeon runs, that people only do once), and groups bigger than 4 people! Oh, and the classes to feel different. Nothing has ever captured the uniqueness that EQ classic had with its classes.

Yar. I'm transfering to Goblin now with a bunch of other friends from various servers. I've been doing Coil Turn 4 but with not being able to beat turn five all there is to do is farm that for the next month and a half until 2.1 comes out.

I am leveling all my crafting skills though.
