First, thanks very much to everyone for making this a reality. I've been pining for "real EQ" (pre-Luclin) for several years now, and this scratches the itch nicely. Well done.

One of the things I had hoped for on this server, since it nominally only appeals to true veterans of the game, is that the more... um... "dense" players wouldn't be present. Boy, was I disappointed.

Group last night: me (warrior), a bard, a cleric and a wiz. The bard keeps trying to pull (even when I'm out actively pulling, or we're all sitting and resting), and never uses assist. Gets himself whacked repeatedly, forcing the cleric to try to keep him and me healed at the same time -- no small feat for a lowbie cleric. It was, in short, a bad pick up group -- just the way I remember them. I was overcome with nostalgia. Or perhaps that was nausea...

Guess they're here after all. /sigh. Well, at least it's a very authentic 1999 experience. ;)

So I hear there are MMOs out there where everyone has incredible skill and pays attention to detail...

Maybe a recent live deserter? Wasn't on recent live that bards were one of the best pullers?

Warriors have the problem currently of not being able to grab agro back really fast.. I have that trouble with monks all the time.

/disband bard fixes that real quick. Seriously, there are lots of annoying habits some recent live switch-overs have picked up, some more tolerable than others, but a non-designated puller is never one of them.

It is kinda funny how habits from Live are so engrained. One of the funniest moments I've had in P99 (so far) was back in Oasis. Our group nominated the monk to pull and he grudgingly accepted. Things went well for quite some time, but he finally broke down and said, "Guys, why the hell do I have to pull? I don't even have FD yet, I have no advantage over anyone else."

I laughed for a good 10 minutes after that, for it dawned on me that even at lowbie levels we're locked into preconceived notions.

I prefer to pull as a warrior, its easier to keep agro that way.

A lot of it I think is people re-learning the game. That and that's just how people are, IQ's from every range of #.

Well some will get beat down enough in classic EQ to force that at least partially.

That or they will just keep dying.
20+ minute corpse runs seem to help improve skill more than any talent tree.. :)

This is exactly why I make solo classes or group with friends. A pub group always has one person that fucks it up for the rest.

Sadly the ones who just started don't have this privilege of grouping with out established friends.

Lol, the monk who dislikes pulling... Better get used to it, even without fd monks are a pulling class, otherwise we'd all have rogues over monks

Glad we could be of service. We'll turn off the PUG idiot beacon from your account now.

Now, for the next 3 days, people will wonder if it is real.

What level are you? I noticed when I was lower level, most people just didn't give a damn who pulled or who's main assist. They're not dense, just lazy and impatient. If you aren't pulling every half second, they'll pull something. It wasn't until I joined an FP group in Unrest and groups in uguk that I noticed groups were actually trying to establish a routine... Tired of winding up dead I suppose.

That's basically how I spun it, I told him he might as well get the pulling practice now. But that's an assumption on my part, I've never played a monk and I'm guessing FD pulling is a whole different beast than runnin' around Oasis pullin' crocs.
