Nice catch. I was in cabo in '07 started off at sunrise fishing. Saw the sting ray just off the shore, there were so many of them it looked like the water was boiling because they were jumping in the air. Did about 4 hours of coastal fishing, caught some rooster fish then we went about 20 miles out and went marlin fishin. The one i caught was probably 195-220 pounds, took me about 45 mins to bring it in. Best part was the mahi mahi we caught. We took it to a hole in the wall restaurant and they cooked the mahi for us in like 7 different ways. Wish i had the pics available to show my catches!

They watched security camera footage to see what was happening. At night, the octopus was CLIMBING OUT of its tank, going into the dying fish tank, eating the fish, then CLIMBING BACK IN to its own tank (and replacing the lid.)

Not worth it imo man, octopus has little flavor and a consistently rubbery texture. The most popular dish would likely be Calamari, which is squid tentacles breaded and fried/deep fried then served with some sort of red sauce (marinara). It is also quite popular in pasta dishes. Though again, I wouldn't waste my time. It's not the type of thing to leave a lasting impression imo.

If you're looking for a good seafood dish, go for a nice fresh tuna filet imo. To anyone that loves Tuna, if you cook it medium rare, it's like eating one of the most tender cuts of regular steak you'll ever have.

You can use a basting brush to hit both sides with honey mustard, sprinke it with poppy seed and pan sear it on a hot grill-style pan (or regular BBQ grill, but it's easier to break the filet apart on those), then if you like a little kick use a wasabi sauce. Either use VERY little at a time, or mix the wasabi with a sour cream base to cut it.

One of my other favorites is a garlic-stuffed filet. Simmer over low heat a bunch of peeled and cleaned garlic cloves in butter til they are cooked and golden, cover them, let em cool then they should be soft enough to stuff into a tenderloin.

A Bearnaise style sauce goes well with that one.

IMO, Hollandaise is too rich (like 90% butter) for meat, although yes it is the classical way. If I want more fat with my steak, I would just roll and cut some pads of compound butter. Way easier and faster than an easily-breakable sauce that doesn't hold well at all.

I prefer those fat-based sauces on fish mostly, sometimes chicken.

You've peaked my interest. Rib eye is also my preferred cut of meat, even above the filet.

Here's mine:

Oven @ 300 degrees. (could go higher depending on how much time you have to make it)
Trim off the tail and silver skin
Season 1-1.5" thick ribeye steak with salt and pepper.
Wait for surface of the steak to become glossy from moisture loss due to salt
While waiting, I usually heat the cast iron skillet just until smoking point
Oil in (I stay away from olive oil, the house already becomes smoky enough without it)
Steak in, sear one side, flip, whole butter in, baste while other side sears. Remove steak from pan before the butter burns. Transfer to rack, into oven. This is where it gets tricky because oven times will vary. I typically leave it for about 20 minutes before I start to temp. Target temp is 155*. Remove meat from oven.
Salt cutting board, rest the meat about 7 minutes.
Carve across the natural "U" shape on the ribeye into half to quarter-inch strips.


I tend to stay away from saucing because it comes out pretty juicy. Also, I live with someone who likes to eat around the fat and pouring sauce over the strips obscures the fatty parts.

I urge you to use caution when buying filets. All natural/organic is great, as is. But those with pre-packaged or USDA choice filets, I need an accompanying sauce, IMO. Cows weren't made to eat corn, I like to enjoy mine grass-fed ;)

And try not to fall into the "seal in the juices" gimmick, I used to be under the same notion. Searing provides two things, color and flavor from maillard browning. IMO, a grilled steak is much juicier than a pan-seared one (more work tho :() and it only "sears" where the grill rods touch (grill marks) The only thing that seals in the juices is not over-cooking the product ;)

Still, no meat needs sauce, especially a cut like that. A lot of places use a sauce to make up for the fact that their steaks are dry and tough. A little salt & pepper and cooking the meat in the same pan you sauteed your vegetables in should be more than enough.

I was basically saving money to pay off a big chunk of my car, instead I laser my eyes.

Military get PRK treatment, the same as im getting, my doctor also got PRK. It's a slower heal time than LASIK with the flap method, but the healing is stronger, basically in high impact situations near your head or where blood could rush to your head, you risk tearing the flap or damaging your eyes without PRK surgery.

It's all pretty much computer guided, your eyes have numbing drops, more so from the discomfort of having your eyes held open and getting dry. The actual procedure is about 30 seconds per eye, and the computer will compensate if you manage to derp and move your eye around.

After watching one of their videos I feel alot better about the surgery overall, the actual laser is a form of ultraviolet which is taking off millionths of a centimeter from the surface of your eye, so its not like a laser thats going to burn through your head or face. It's all pretty much computer guided, your eyes have numbing drops, more so from the discomfort of having your eyes held open and getting dry. The actual procedure is about 30 seconds per eye, and the computer will compensate if you manage to derp and move your eye around.


I was hoping it would be cheaper, but I'm done with my eyes feeling tired all the time from contacts, and after just one day of glasses im fucking done with them.

Well assuming he is eating right and has lots of greens, nuts and fruits (kale, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.) he should be fine maintaining his muscle mass. I'm honestly not sure how much would be recommended for building muscle but there is always protein powder which I think is pretty common for a lot of people trying to build mass anyways.
