New to the server and never used them yet. Can I trust them? lol

First rule of Everquest: Never trust a boat.

Thulack summed it up. But they do work (not like they ever did 100% well).

Do it up.

They may not be classic boats (the ones serving the original 3 continents), and you have levitate cast on you while you're on the boat (basically), but they're safe for the most part.

Be careful of the boat from BB to EFP, though. In OOT, I once got attacked while on the boat by some roaming water gobs, but my corpse was waiting for me on Sisters Isle, so it was just a minor pain in the ass.

But yeah, for the most part, the boats are safe.

My first trip to Kunark I fell off the Captain's Skiff when changing boats. Levitate dropped like a rock, not sure why. Had to cast gate since I didn't feel like swimming for a mile.

Also fell off the shuttle at the dock in Erudin and got attacked by a shark. I think there was a lag spike or something. "Large warp detected" was what my screen said if I remember correctly.

Since then I have used all of the boats countless times without any further incident. I also tend to be more careful how I step now, knowing they don't always sail as smooth as I had hoped.

One tip I suggest, make sure they are completely stopped before you board or disembark. They can move from the front of a dock to the side of a dock in the blink of an eye. ;)

"Large Warp Detected" is when the boat is entering/leaving the zone.
