So I got my letter today and I have to self surrender next month to the Camp in Three Rivers, TX anyone have any good info on this place? I was sentenced to 18 months on August 8th and I just got a register number yesterday with the FBOP. I am just awaiting my letter to tell me when and where to be. My parole officer seems to think it might be closer to 90 days but we shall see.
Anyways, by the time I get back, hope Velious is released...

I try to think of it as something positive coming out of a negative experience. I plead down to 18 months with early parole rather than facing a 4 year sentence.
I don't think i'll come out with many scratches, I don't doubt myself...in order to survive you just have to have some common sense and not portray weakness. 95% of you e-thugs will most likely get punked on the first day and end up someone's bitch anyways so troll on.

i know its a way shorter time, but i spent three weeks in county jail once. it really wasn't so bad. i made a good friend that i still hang out with to this day, learned a bunch about growing weed, played a lot of cards, and watched FX 12 hours a day.

http://thesocietypages.org/socimages/2013/04/04/prison-labor-and-taxpayer-dollars/
American companies that once looked to places like Mexico and China for cheap labor are bringing those jobs back to the U.S. Why? Because prison labor is much, much cheaper. Paid between 93¢ and $4.73 per day, and collecting no benefits, prisoners are a cheap labor source for about 100 companies (source).
What does this have to do with you?
If you have insurance, invest, use utilities, have a bank, drive a car, send a child to school, go to a dentist, call service centers, fly on planes, take prescription drugs, or use paper, you might be benefiting from prison labor.
If you’ve bought products by or from Starbucks, Nintendo, Victoria’s Secret, JC Penney, Sears, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Eddie Bauer, Wendy’s, Proctor & Gamble, Johnson & Johnson, Fruit of the Loom, Motorola, Caterpiller, Sara Lee, Quaker Oats, Mary Kay, or Microsoft, you are part of this system.
When prisoners are in state and federal prisons, the U.S. taxpayer is subsidizing low wages and corporate profits, since they are paying for prisoners’ room, board, and health care. When prisoners are in private prisons, prison labor is a way to make more money off of the human beings caught in the corrections industry. In other words, prison labor is an efficient way for corporations to continue to increase their profits without sharing those gains with their employees.

This is medium security place. Read on wiki there was a huge riot a few years back that resulted in a death.

I'll give you some rules:
#1 people in there are not your friend, if someone is overly friendly the moment you hit the block don't trust him, keep your distance and your guard up; he's trying to sucker you into following him somewhere (to play cards, his bunk to show you something etc.) he's trying to lure you away from CO's and security cameras so him and his pals can shake you down for commissary money.
Point blank, you don't want a couple dudes beating the shit out of you to get your book money.
#2 Force rules here, if someone's starts shit you best be the one that finishes it; it doesn't matter if knocking some dude out will get you sent to the hole or revokes your privileges, 90-days in solitary is much better than that one inmate telling a hundred others that you're a bitch/punk/pussy because if they sense any weakness from you then your next 18 months will be decided by whoever decides to fuck with you the most.
#3 When eating never eat in the center of the room, as you can be attacked from all sides, try to get a table near a wall.
#4 Don't talk any shit, don't brag about anything; keep your head down and only be cordial if you have to.
#5 Don't talk about any personal shit, like where you're from or who you're related to; lie if you have to because people on the inside have people on the outside and if they really want to extort you they can and will go after your friends and family.
#6 When buying commissary only buy what you think you need for the week, if you hard and buy a shit ton of soda, candy, ramen etc. then you're making yourself a target for robbery and extortion; remember you're sharing your cell with criminals so don't just leave property around or show these other criminals that you have money.
#7 Stick with your own race, prison is racist as shit and if you're a white dude and you're talking to some latino or some black rather frequently you make yourself out to be a target by racially-influenced gangs; in short stick with your own skin color to avoid an ass raping by the Aryans.
#8 Spend as much time in your cell working out and reading, less time out n the block = less chance of making enemies or getting caught up in shit.
#9 On the yard occupy yourself as much as possible, show that you're physically strong, if you sit around talking and looking like a stick you then become a target; people are less likely to jump you if you look "tough" as opposed to some lanky nerd.
#10 Don't tell on anybody period, even if it's the most minor of things like an inmate sneaking cigarettes; you tell anyone else or god forbid a C.O then you're in trouble pal.

I did 13 months in South Mississippi Correctional Institute. Prison isn't dangerous unless you're stupid enough to join a "gang". If that's the case you might get a 10 inch piece of straightened & sharpened chainlink fence through your kidney.
Rape doesn't really occur very often in prison anymore because there's enough willing gays in there.
Best thing to do is get a job on a work crew (if you're in out-custody) so you can feel freedom every day. Also if you're on a work crew you usually get fed more.
If you're really going to prison, keep your head up. Don't let the concrete get to you or you'll be miserable.

Shop and maintenence are still on the compound. You're still behind steel and concrete. If all you have is a drug charge you should be in some sort of out-custody. Which means you'll be able to get a job with city/county work crews or churches. You'll have a guard with a high powered rifle watching you all day... but atleast you're "out".
I was in for a violent crime (burglary of an occupied dwelling) and I was still able to get B-Out custody. I don't know exactly what the difference is.. just that I wore black and white stripes and the A-Out guys wore green and white.

You're so dumb, that you forget the economy works two ways.
It's not people that go "oh man economy is bad better smoke crack" it's corporations that go "can't afford minimum wage (lol) better hire prisoners for $0.06 a day!" so big time corporate lobbyists spend millions on state campaigns strengthening misdemeanor laws on the books to have some sort of mandatory sentence.

Funnily enough, no I can completely acknowledge that. Private prisons in particular are a joke. However it still comes down to a simple-to-understand easy fucking formula.
Don't break the law, you won't end up in jail. It doesn't matter whether or not you agree with the law or what the law means, breaking it means you're a criminal. Criminals deserve consequences.

Maybe you are living a normal life, had money for an education, and have a normal job...that's how your story goes. I'm not making excuses for myself or anyone else. You support breaking unjust laws? I have 0 sympathy for you and your kind. Breaking unjust laws is more "wrong" morally than the unjust law existing in the first place.
Repeal/change them peacefully, slowly, and legally (See the way Marijuana is headed) the way the system is intended to operate. If you don't like that route people can move to wear that law has no mandate.
Simply breaking them because you think they are "unjust" is wrong and people that do deserve punishment.
Jury nullifications haven't really been a thing in American since the 19th century, they are virtually obselete.

Half the criminals in prison are decent people who just made a mistake and have to pay...least thats what I think I am.
For clarifications sake; I was saying that people that break the law and then blame the system rather than owning up to it are the shitheads, in reference to Gaffin's "Real society" bullshit.
As far as my personal background is concerned, I despise criminals for the very fact I came up from being very poor and saw many around me turn to a life of crime while I stayed on the straight and narrow and did things the right way.
Those "forced hand"s your describing is usually just people being lazy, or as you said going after the "easy money" instead of putting real work in.
Given my own background I will never have any respect for the individuals that take the easy/quick way out.
Nobodies perfect, but when people decide to take "the easy money" when they know its wrong and it's breaking laws and then they try to justify it via having a "forced hand" or not being born rich, those are exactly the type of people I'm calling shitheads.
EDIT: For even more clarification, you don't sound like a shithead. Gaffin/jonny lawbreaker abacab are the ones that sound like shit heads, but everyone already knows they are. Kinda sad when you can tell someones character simply by the way they act on a video game.. eh Bouncer?

You support breaking unjust laws? I have 0 sympathy for you and your kind. Breaking unjust laws is more "wrong" morally than the unjust law existing in the first place.

The Role of Civil Disobedience in Democracy (http://www.civilliberties.org/sum98role.html)
Civil Disobedience is the act of disobeying a law on grounds of moral or political principle. It is an attempt to influence society to accept a dissenting point of view. Although it usually uses tactics of nonviolence, it is more than mere passive resistance since it often takes active forms such as illegal street demonstrations or peaceful occupations of premises. The classic treatise on this topic is Henry David Thoreau's "On the Duty of Civil Disobedience," which states that when a person's conscience and the laws clash, that person must follow his or her conscience. The stress on personal conscience and on the need to act now rather than to wait for legal change are recurring elements in civil disobedience movements. The U.S. Bill of Rights asserts that the authority of a government is derived from the consent of the governed, and whenever any form of government becomes destructive, it is the right and duty of the people to alter or abolish it.

All depends where you are headed really, I got lucky and was basically alone in a cell and never had to come in contact with any other inmates but I was in a locked down wing even though I was a month into my 18th birthday the other people around were all big ass tuff mexicans like 6'5 270 was funny since I was like 5'10 130 at the time. But I didn't have to do anywhere near 18 months let alone 5+ years. My buddy wasn't a minor at the time and got 7 years in federal, Got beatup/stabbed and was then transferred from federal near LA to allentown PA prison for the rest of his 5 years which he said was pretty comfy since its like a lesser security/hospital type place he was housed in.
