View Full Version : Paying for PoS looting rights?

As an unguilded paladin who doesn't usually have time to commit to a several hours long raid (and who probably wouldn't be needed anyway), I was wondering if it is logistically possible to buy looting rights to some pally drops in Sky? I've never been to the zone so I don't really understand how the islands work, but if I was looking for something from Bazzt Zzzt would I be physically able to head up there and grab it if it dropped? Or do you kinda need to be along for the raid for that to work out? If that is possible, how would it work?

Outlook not so good...

Paladins attending the raid will get loot rights to their class quest items. Rotting Paladin quest items most often go to alts. Sky isn't normally farmed for plat bounties.

Interesting people have the plat farmed up to want to pay for Sky drops but don't have time to attend Sky raids...

Plane of Sky is a progressive raid. To progress from one island to the next you need to make a key from items the mobs drop as you go. The keys are no drop and no rent and they disappear when you leave the zone. Unless you are part of the raid, it's unlikely you'll be able to get any rots from an island higher than 2, since island 2 key can be bought from the vendor there.

Most of the guilds on this server that raid have one specific day they do sky, the raids really don't take THAT long when everything is already popped. Just find a guild who you like to hang out with that has a sky night that suits your schedule and you're good to go. EQ Raids don't take days anymore, too much dps, too much knowledge, and too much zerg. Velious raids will take longer, but nothing like they used to.

Ok thanks for the replies. Kinda what I figured. Maybe I'll find the time to get up there one of these days.

As to the bizarre implication that I've obtained plat through illicit means, I've got less than 5k saved up. I'm just thinking ahead and deciding how obtainable that shiny blade of the ocean really is given real life commitments...

There was no implication that you RMT. It was that you have time to farm the amount of plat that would be needed to purchase loot rights but no time to attend a 3 hour sky raid. /shrug

Hmm. If it really is only three hours, then I could probably make the time for it. My understanding was that it would be closer to double that amount. Is three hours pretty standard or is that for the most elite guilds?

Sorry for assuming you were accusing me of worse than just not being consistent in my reasoning haha.

Attending sky raids requires being in a raiding guild. maybe he doesnt have the time to put in to raiding 20+ hours a week and just wants so gear. To that note you have to get keys to each island or get corpse summoned up which requires some planning.

Depends on whats being done. If a guild wants to clear 1-7 it takes more then 3 hours. If a guild just wants to go do 6-7 or whatever it can be done. Also A Team was selling PoSky looting rights but i think it was 5k per isle for item so something from isle 6 would cost you around 30k for the drop.

In other words, you don't have enough money to buy what you want. Better to just make friends and tag along.

Oh thanks for the link. That's what I was looking for. Yeah, I'm a teeny bit short on cash at the moment but I've finally filled every slot with decent gear so I can actually start to save up. I was assuming I was looking at around 20k or so, so 30k doesn't seem too unreasonable. It'll take a while but I'll get there.

Thanks for the replies all!

20+ hours a week? What? Get real.

So farming plat 20+ hours a week on a Paladin to afford A-Team rots makes more sense? They charge 15-25k for island 5 rots never mind island 6 which is what the OP mentioned.

Sky takes 3-5 hours (one day a week) depending on the goals. IMO best off joining a guild in the rotation as there isn't very many Paladin mains to loot those drops...

You could do 75% of TMO's raids in 20 hours a week probably. Lol @ needing 20+ hours a week in a "raiding guild" in order to get sky drops for the rarest class on the server.

You should inquire before attending what will be required of you and the conditions of loot. I had a guild mate attend fear with another guild and when the loot dropped, he was told he could only loot if he dropped our guild tag and joined the guild he was with at that moment.

/sigh i didnt mean 20+ hours for a sky clear. Most raiding guilds require you to be a most/all raids if you are online. If you wanted to cherry pick and only raid sky with your guild then sure raid 5 hours a week. thats all i was saying.

see my post above. If you want to be a douche and only raid sky with your guild to get a drop then so be it.

For many people, DEDICATING 3-5 hours to play a video game is much different than FINDING 3-5 sporadicallyto play a video game. I've been able to attend all sorts of raids, but cannot and have not ever been able to commit to a raiding schedule or really set times.

I agree with your general sentiment, but don't pretend like his request is absurd or anything.

I'd drop, tag into the other guild and get loot, then switch back. Then I'd start a thread in R&F :)

It would be well-played. Lots of QQ. Lots of slow claps.

I know you didn't mean that?

I never claimed the request to be absurd. IMO it's not likely this would work out for him and I explained why just as he requested.
