Guys,
I remember a while back there was a page on project 1999 wiki that showed a chart of different class abilities and rated how well they were at each ability.
It showed for instance.... How desired the classes were in a group, in a raid, popularity, how easy it was to get the epic etc...
I went looking for that page the other day and couldn't find it for the life of me, even after searching for it.
Would someone please link that page? Thanks! I"ll have to bookmark it for future reference!

It says the wizard class is at a "3" in terms of usefulness in a group.
Wouldn't wizards be more valuable than a "3" in a group? I mean, they are the nuke specialists. Kill everything quickly type of class right?

Wizards are hard-capped by mana regeneration rates (meditate + clarity + bard song line) and spell efficiency (DMG/mana). Caster long-term DPS (think groups) is not equivalent to monk, rogue, ranger, mage pet, or likely even ranger sustained melee DPS. Yes Wizards are fantastic for "blow it up quickly" scenarios, but those are raids (specifically raid bosses), not groups.

It's a person's opinion that is based on the standard tank and spank one at a time formula for groups. Wizards don't excel at sustained dps there. A good wizard can still park adds with root and burn down mobs/evac in crisis situations. However, they will be less overall dps than many of the other dps classes.
On the bright side there are non-tank and spank group situations in which wizards dominate.

These (low HP kiting duos, AE groups) are not necessarily all that common, though, especially before level 50. Not to say that people shouldn't try and make them, though.

I'm surprised wizard wasn't a "1". Once a wizard is oom you are dropping 1 nuke every 2 mobs. It sucks. Manna Robe helps, as does Robe of Invocation, if you are lucky enough to have either of those, but still, you aren't great. Wizards are almost more useful for CC in the absence of real CC.
Also emergency evac, but this doesn't seem as prized here as I remember it on Live. Seems we always sought an evac'er if we were going deep into a dungeon.

I understand better now, thanks guys! Limited by mana regen :( Better for raids.
I will go Rogue then for my DPS grouping class :)

A lot of people on here are against Wizards because some of them tend to be AFK a LOT. And I can sort of understand why they are AFK. No mana, guess what, might as well go get another Beer lol. Not a lot of Love on here for Wizards and Rangers. :D

Assuming all things equal Wizards kind of suck in a group. I always wished Wizards would have been given some moderate sustained damage in line with Warriors perhaps. Maybe a light damage spell that boosted mana, then could use high damage spell when the situation called for it.
