When I talked to the insurance claim person the other day on the phone. They told me to make a list of the parts that where in the computer and all that well I did and the prices are...
4384.56 for the desktop
About 1750.00 for the laptop.
I got a $250.00 deductible

If the power company was at fault it's often possible to get them to reimburse.

Some surge protectors come with a warranty that protects any equipment connected to them. In fact I recommend finding one when you get your new machines. You can find them at any place like Staples, and they're not too expensive, less than $100.

Its a subrogation process and it takes a while specially when the at fault party is a utility company . Much better to take matters into your own hands then try and get your money back later.

If your computers turned on, and if they didnt take em try to run a chkdsk. Had the same thing happen to me and I ended up just needing to use that command.
