View Full Version : What Achievements (if P99 Had Them) Would You Be Most Proud of?

So it's Friday afternoon, I'm bored at work, and my brain wanders to a strange thought: what if Project 1999 had achievements, similar World of Warcraft (or other games)? In other words what if you got a special "badge" that others could see when, for instance ...

you kill a major monster (eg. Vox)
you visit every zone in the game
you perform (as a cleric) your 1,000th rez
you max out every language skill
you complete your epic quest
etc.

Now, I'm pretty young (level 39) on this server, so I personally haven't really achieved anything yet, but on my original Everquest character there were a few things I was proud of accomplishing. And that made me wonder: for those who have been here awhile, what achievements (and you can imagine any, as long as it's something the system could actually track) would you want to get, or have already, and want to show off?

To put it another way, what (trackable) Project 99 accomplishment are you most proud of?

Now I realize this matters ... well, not at all, but like I said it's Friday afternoon and I'm bored, so I'm hoping at least a couple other people are too :)

Live has achievements. They could have done it better but its basically like a achievement list/tracker list for all the quests for each xpac for the last few. Here on P99 probably Epic and full Planar/Sky gear, Full Spellbook, Max all none tradeskills, Have a few 250/200 Tradeskill toons.

Wow, I think everyone else was intimidated in to not providing their own list because your's was so impressive ;)

I was particularly impressed with "a few 250/200 tradeskill toons." Having done tradeskills heavily back on live, I understand just how much time that must have taken. Kudos.

haha well the 250/200 isnt a reality yet due to some tradeskill recipes that are lacking but am working to just max them all as much as i can on 2 toons. I have 3 toons on live with 300 in all tradeskills so while it is alot of work its something i also enjoy.

For an Enchanter achievement branch: transform into each native race at their home city and hail a guard. I would call it "When with Gnome, do as the Gnome-mans do." (When in Rome. . .)

Maybe some kind of "Regicide" achievement for killing all the leader mobs like Emperor Crush, the Froglok King, King Xorbb. . . No kingdom is too small to ruin the lands of!!

"No-breather Achiever": You have to stay underwater for a minute or so without Enduring Breath or surfacing for air, like a challenge to overcome low STA?

"One-man Bandstand": for when a bard maxes all their Woodwind, String, Percussion, and Brass skills.

Pretty minor stuff really but as I played this game as a super casual in my early teens I have to say I've been chuffed to get the following things done on P99:

Getting level 60 on my bard.

Discovering and mastering ae kiting - was a filthy amount of fun kiting orcs in wide ass circles and watching my xp bar fly up.

Breaking and clearing fear and hate with pals when we were in mid 40's to low 50's.

My first raid being a dragon kill - fair enough it was only Ragefire but the buzz mobilising and feeling like I was contributing to a bigger effort for the first time was a total rush. Getting the Ragefire boots as my first bit of raid loot and still wearing them to this day.

Tracking and seeing my first raid mob pop (Maestro of Rancor)

Competing for Maestro and taking him out with a four man group. Shorts, where are you!?

Thinking about the many entertaining times I've had on this server makes me want to acknowledge once again how awesome it is Nilbog and company have had the will and the drive for so many years to recreate this great game accurately. Cheers for the last year and a half's entertainment.

Dying at level 58 with a cleric in my group, being bound outside the dungeon and getting back to my corpse before the cleric, and looting every item on my corpse because I was out of it... >_<

An achievement in stupidity, if you will.

Another similar mistake I made years ago on P99 was rooting myself instead of my enemy as a druid. I feel like every druid has probably gone through that!

Positive achievements, I dunno. Maybe most monsters killed in a short period of time (AE stuff) or most ports in an hour?

I like this one!

Make One Level In Every Zone would be a good one too. It'd be super hardcore though, especially if you could only get it by using one character.

Seems like there was a thread like 8, 9 months ago about where to level every level. Could only ding once in each zone.

Sounds like a thread Splorf22 would have made lol.

Pff.. I am a cleric and I have done that at least 3-4 times that I can think of... with an epic.

Would say:

Leveling related
1) lvl 20 - getting a surname (that is still how it works right?)
2) lvl 30 - first hell level (or 35?)
3) lvl 46 - welcome to the planes
4) level 50 - vanilla level cap
5) lvl 59 - GL HF
6) lvl 60 - You made it
7) De-leveling.
8) De-leveling multiple times on the same level.
9) Eating a lvl 50+ full exp death (no rez, corpse gone) - Hurts don't-it

Activity related
10) Full Fear/Hate Planar
11) Complete 3 Sky Quests (I say 3 because I can speak for clerics in that there is no real reason to do all the quests)
12) Complete Epic
13) No idea how to track this but something around the experience of losing your corpse -- I do not think anything is more classic EQ than the "F' I am an erudite, I got lost in the dark at level 2 and died -somewhere-"
14) Dying while on a CR.
15) Dying multiple times on the same CR.
16) Logging off for the night without ever getting your corpse. - Screw you guys, I'm going home.

Could probably go on for a while

That's out of our time line, but a raid where rarely the paladin got the killshot.

Having other guild train Hosh on you just to kill it. Check.

We've been trying to do a 2 VP dragons at once guild achievement going but were not too serious about it.

Tried to orchestrate a 2 group SW kill but fell through due to other mobs spawning.
