So, I'm from the South and I've been working out as long as I can remember. Within the past year I've moved to the North, signed up for a gym and I've been going regularly but it doesn't have the same feel. And I've noticed the reason. When I first came here first of all I noticed there were NO black people, or at least they're all segregated to various really shitty parts of the surrounding cities. That leads to my gym playing 70s, 80s, and 90s alternative rock as well as various 00s, and 10s what feels like alt/pop rock.
This is not good workout music.
I want to listen to the music they play at the gyms I worked out in in the South.
I'm used to a sound system hanging in the middle of the gym bigger than the ones you see at live concerts, bass-dropping monsters that you have to raise your voice to speak over to see if a piece of equipment is open. My question approaches.
This is not my music scene, but when I hear it it makes me want to run hard, lift heavy, and it pumps me up like no other.
So who here knows some serious workout music in this genre? I know the songs when I hear them but I don't know any of the artists.
I've been exploring the music scene a bit lately and figuring out a few of the songs I heard all the time and I'll drop a few sample links at the bottom of the page so you know what I'm looking for. All suggestions welcome.
The stuff I have found so far isn't nearly as heavy as I'm looking for but its the most similar I've found so far.
Playlist of songs my old gym played: Been discovering the names and listing them here
T.I. - Go Get It
New Boyz - You're a Jerk
2 Chainz - No Lie
2 Chainz - Birthday
Young Jeezy - RIP
B.o.B. - Out of my Mind
Ca$h Out - Cashin Out
Kirko Bangz - Drank in my Cup
Waka Flocka Flame - No Hands
T-Pain - Booty Work
Lil'Wayne - No Worries
Lil'Wayne - Good Kush and Alcohol
Cecil Swag District - Teach Me How to Dougie
Big Sean - Dance (A$$)
Anything with this sound my gym would've played.
