So working on my wizzie again... ran over to NQ to lvl, moving to QH shortly, all of lvl 3 but there are so few people I see. Most of you guys in Freeport area when you hit a city?

East Commons is where pretty much all trading happens, and available porters/rezzers tend to hang out there also, so it's sort of the social hub of the server. But there are people all over; you probably just picked the wrong zones at the wrong times.

we picked the most bland, boring zone in the game.. east commonlands
my nostalgia will never be fully stroked until the server trading zone relocates to north freeport or gfay

Where are you going to put 150 people in North Freeport?? And the bank is tiny.

Not that it matters since it won't change but I think WC would be better!
- still close to neriak.
- close to halflings/highpass for bank.
- large pond for fishing and swimming skillups.
- both port in spots right thurr.
Shit would be awesome.

LOL figured EC would be the main hub, I mean... it's EC tunnel! :)

major hubs:
EC/WC, north freeport, overthere, dreadlands
lesser hubs:
greater faydark, oasis, north/south karana, firiona vie, field of bone
In terms of EXPing, a popular place from level 3 through 15 or so is Orc Hill in Greater Faydark followed by Crushbone, though EC is also very popular because lowbies can get buffs from high levels trading in the tunnel. Blackburrow is popular too (for the gnoll fang quest), but is a bit out of the way, so it's less populated than the others.

On pvp servers back in the day Kelathin was a pretty popular place, loved blinding people off the top

it could easily accommodate double that. back on live (veeshan) all those shops surrounding the bank were bustling with people.
i miss being able to tell people "hey meet me behind jade palace" instead of "torch 1"
evils hung out in the sewers (which was also crowded as shit) repeatedly killing that one Barbarian drunkard NPC.

I vote the new trading place becomes the Field of Bone, then there will never be any shortage of bone chips server wide.

I made the nekkid newbie run from Toxx to Freeport, took 1hr, 10m, only 2 deaths LOL. High Pass really sucks ass, seriously.

Yeah, zoning into High Pass is the thrill of a lifetime as a really low level toon lol. Hell even being in the high teens is a heart stopper at times.

Enchanters get invis at level 4, and I waved goodbye to Gfay forever.
Apparently some servers had it as the main trade hub. I was from Tribunal on live, which used EC, so it was completely natural for me to head straight there.

if you want EXP groups the whole way up, the golden path would be something like...
EC > some WC > Unrest > Mistmoore > Overthere > Dreadlands > Karnor's Castle > Sebilis

Pretty good list.
I'd say City of Mist over DL though (Unless you're a Bard)

Have to dispute this list. Outdoor zones have terrible ZEM and worse loot than dungeons. And are way less exciting. I'd go Crushbone -> Unrest -> Mistmoore -> Sol B / CoM -> KC -> HS/Seb. Of course there are plenty of other options as well, but those are the big ones.

Yeah, the ZEM is terrible, and I hate KC, but always groups there.
I always try to encourage people to do Kaesora. It's out of the way so you should bring a group, and CR can suck a lot, but cool zone and awesome ZEM.

yeah Sol B and CoM are better options EXP-wise, but i put OT and DL in those spots on my list because in my experience its easier to get groups in OT and DL (which is what OP was concerned about).

Never understood why people take this route. Would always take the NK--> SK ---> Lake ---> Mtns --> Ferrot --> Swamp then the Ro's and oasis to get to Freeport. Sure it's longer, but it's by far easier to avoid mobs as a newbie that way. More open.
Highpass is terrible (if you don't have invis) since you have to run through narrow passageways filled with kobolds and orcs. I once tried taking Gorge --> RE and just trying to mad dash the short distance to RV. Could never make it.

some people find it easier and quicker to go around highpass via Rivervale > Misty > Runnyeye > Beholder. the mobs on the top of Runnyeye are lower level than the stuff in Highpass, there's fewer of them, and if you're careful you can run way up high on the walls in Beholder to avoid agro.
that ramp in East Karana is long as hell, and without invis it is quite impossible to avoid the orcs and gnolls in Highpass
Better yet, just get a port~

aye this route is safer. definitely stick to the walls in beholder though, those muddites will blind you silly

I LIVED in UG/LG, had dreams of the sounds of the frogs dying, just loved those zones. Still remember the maps in my head for them LOL
I'll be using those, and CoM, Kedge, Mistmoore, and a few other "dungeon" zones I loved. xp was always so much better there.

Some of the zones just don't have much ZeM, but they have people in them which means groups. So a lot of classes , and people that like to group, have a good time in them. It is sort of what EQ was all about. Grouping. :p

I love the grouping aspect of this game (Really hope it exists in EQN). HOWEVER I played in CB the last couple days and found out I HATE grouping in CB, all that happens is poor tank play leading to terrible pulls leading to trains.
I much rather carve out a nice little spot and solo in CB and avoid the train fiascos, because the xp loss from deaths to trains just stalls everything.

Well CB on average has Tanks that are new to the game. And taunt is broken here for sure. So it is a crazy zone because of it. But it is pretty classic just like Oasis of Marr and BB was years ago. All three are a good place to die in.
