Is this server(s) primary trajectory forward?

What I mean by that is, Velius will be out soon(ish) and for us new players wanting to play classic, it might be a neat idea to launch a brand new server (pre-Kunark).

Ideal situation in my opinion that welcomes to great influx of players we are bound to have.

November 18th 2013 - Project 1999 launches a brand new (no server transfer or merger) pre-kunark game. (we have the benefit of the several years of development of emu to launch this minus all the various bugs- while bugs are in classic this can be original minus bugs)

November 18th 2014 - Project 1999 launches Kunark

November 18th 2015 - Project 1999 launches Velius

February 18th 2016 - Allows merging of the 2 servers if community needs it for population reasons.

Just a thought

There is discussion of a new Teams99 server, which will be PVP, and have a supposedly accelerated timeline to catch up to Red99 and Blue99.

I wouldn't expect a new blue server launch before Velious is released here and even then it would probably be released only once the Velious patch time line is exhausted (1 year).

Like real discussion? As in Rogean and devs or just a buncha day dreaming players? I would imagine the effort in creating the rule set logic for a team server would be a nightmare. How many people would even play? A hundred? And won't most of those people be from r99? I don't see it drawing new people.

There was a discussion (daydreaming players) in another thread about a new classic server but my guess is it would just siphon off half (or probably a lot more) of p99's player base.

Edit: If a teams server did ever happen... dibs on the name "Fansy"!

my point was simply that in the current state because so many hardcore raiders have been at the top so long new people can only dare to dream to crack those ranks.

As with every game, most people wont reach the top end but everyone wants to believe they can. On P99 it seems more like a pipe dream

Yeah, complete pipe dream. I agree. It has me wondering if I want to continue. I'm only 11 so far but there's lots to do outside of raiding when/if I get to 60. EQN will probably be out before then anyhow.

I do have to wonder if they're taking the "classic eq" idea a bit too far but I don't rank an opinion really. ;) People been here 3 years. They earned it.

And it's free so...

Even if they did open a new server the hardcore players would just end up dominating it as well.
