Hi all,

Over ten years ago I loved Everquest. I played a Dwarf Paladin and loved fighting on Orc Hill, the Lesser Faydark, and the Estate of Unrest. I was recently cleaning out some boxes and I uncovered a short story that I had written. I thought I'd share with you guys and I would love your feedback. It's based on one of the early game quests you can complete in Kelethin. I only wrote this part, and never got around to finishing it. Thank you.

The Nybright Sisters
Part I - The Drunk

I set down the gold piece on the wooden table.
"Bring me something stronger."
The bartender of the Heartwood Tavern came over and scooped up the gold, set down some Elven wine, and went off to another table looking for more money. I quickly downed the rest of a particularly sour mug of ale and started on my new drink.
I was hoping to get drunk in a hurry. Then I could forget the horrifying event that happened earlier today.
I'm a Paladin, and me and 3 other Paladins went to clean out the Estate of Unrest of all the undead who haunted the area. We had terribly underestimated the power of the undead, and it wasn't long before we were fleeing for our lives. As we ran to the entrance of the Estate, more and more skeletons and zombies would join in tearing us to pieces. Only I - the weakest of the group - had survived the unholy bloodbath.
Suddenly, A High Elf stumbled into the Heartwood Tavern, and made an announcement.
"Could someone please spare some coppers? I need to forever forget a terrible experience…anyone?"
This High Elf - if you could call him one - was obviously drunk, and he needed some sympathy. He was wearing leather armor, and the aged wine stains proved he has been in this state for some time. Thinking what happened to him was hardly as bad as what happened to me, I invited him over to drink with me.
"Oh, thank you, little Dwarf!" he exclaimed.
"Watch yourself," I growled at him. "height has nothing to do with how 'big' someone is."
"My apologies sir. Maybe I should tell you about my shocking experience." He sat in the chair next to me, his glazed eyes filled with sadness.
Actually, I was more interested in telling him about my woes, but I let him go ahead.
"The name's Nybright, good sir, and I'm the father of four daughters. Years ago, they left Faydwer seeking fame and fortune. Well they found fame by murdering, and as thieves they found fortune. They have slandered the Nybright family, and the very name!"
An idea formed - this could be a way to lift the guilt off my shoulders. "What if I were to make it so your name was never tarnished again?"
Apparently, that's exactly what he wanted someone to do. "If you were to do that," He thought for a moment, and then hovered his hands in front of him. "I'll give you these bearskin gloves."
My gloves were torn and tattered. "I'll do it." I said in a heartbeat, and shook his hand. "Where can I find your daughters?" I inquired.
He went back to thinking again. "They are currently camped in the Lesser Faydark. One more thing: bring me back the four pearl necklaces I gave them so long ago."
I got up from my chair, nodded to him, and turned to the door. I was about to exit when he called after me: "Do not underestimate the power of the Nybright Sisters!"

A great mini-RP event could be done with the Nybright sisters... a good read :)
