Gore doesn't necessarily scare me. I'm looking for something that really messes with the mind a bit, something with some surprising twists. My experience so far has been some Stephen King (don't really enjoy the majority of his stuff though), a little Dean Koontz, and more recently someone named Michaelbrent Collings that was pretty decent. Just wondering if there are any other horror fans that have some suggestions. Thx. :)

Ok. Just looked up Blood Meridian and I realized I read one of his other books, "The Road". I like him so gonna check it out for sure. Also, hillbillies scare the shit out of me so that sounds like a good one too. Lol

Thx for the suggestions. =)

What about Let Me In / Let The Right One In? The original (subtitled) movie was pretty amazing. The English version of the book had some editorial issues, but I still think it was a great read.

Here is a good place to find scary short stories (if you like short stories): http://www.creepypasta.com/

Not interesting for everybody, but there are some good gems to be found. Quite a few stories have given me the kind of chills I look for when I read/watch scary stuffs (but then again, I am a giant vag and super easy to scare).

I always enjoyed these ones:

http://www.creepypasta.com/psychosis/comment-page-30/#comment-187131

http://www.creepypasta.com/mr-widemouth/

http://www.creepypasta.com/the-art-of-jacob-emory/

I mostly like stories like this cause they are short and I can read them on my phone (a few apps that include assortments of stories from that website).

What It Feels Like...to Survive a Parachute Failure
BY MIKEY HOLMES, 25, SKY DIVER
As told to Frank Bures

15,000 feet
It was a nice day over Lake Taupo, New Zealand, at the beginning of our summer. For a while, it was just another sky dive. When you jump out of a plane, you're in a cushion of air. You never seem to feel like you are falling, and this was just like the seven thousand other jumps I'd done. I was filming some of the other sky divers.

4,000 feet
I was about to open my first parachute when I realized there was a problem: I was spinning around. That wasn't normal. I pulled the release cable. Normally, this would fling me away from the parachute, and I'd have to regain stability and then open the reserve. But nothing changed. The chute was snagged.

3,000 feet
I was a spinning mess, falling fast. It was like something had a hold of me from my lower back and I was being twirled from that point. The more I tried to get on my back, the faster I would spin. My arms, legs, and head felt like they were being pulled away from me.

2,000 feet
I tried to get on my back so I could see what the problem was. I was looking at my altimeter. I remember seeing the lake. And the ground. And the car park. I did eighty-six rotations. Anyone could get dizzy in that situation, but something took over. I was aware of everything.

1,000 feet
I pulled the reserve, and I started spinning faster, like I was a passenger on an out-of-control ride. I realized I'd done absolutely everything I could. And I knew that was it for me. I was over the lake, and the sensible part of me knew that if I landed in the water, I would die. But when you've got no hope, you think maybe the water will be all right. But then I thought, No, I'll die! Then I was blown over onto the land. The last thing I thought was, Oh, great, I'm going to hit the bloody parking lot of all places.

550 feet
I remembered I had a camera on my head and waved in front of it to whoever would be seeing the footage. And then I thought I might as well say goodbye or say something. But before I had time to think of family and friends or see my life flash before my eyes, all that came out of my mouth was, "Oh, shit. I'm dead. Bye." That just blurted out. It was all over. It all happened so quickly.

250 feet
There wasn't really terror. It was more just helplessness. It's like if you were driving a car, and you went into a tunnel, and it was a dead end. Then your brakes failed. What are you going to do? There's nothing left to do besides brace yourself for impact and possible death.

5 feet
I pretty much remember all the way till the second before I hit. I landed in a blackberry bush. On the video, you can see my hands go out, almost to save myself. I guess that was just instinct. I don't actually remember hitting the ground. I impacted on my side, and that sent a shock wave through my whole body and knocked me out cold. I was severely bruised on the left side of my body and swollen pretty much everywhere. I had cuts on my face and my body, a collapsed and punctured right lung, and a broken ankle. And when I hit the ground, it was like I was dead. It was like I'd been turned off.

I would shit myself and die of a heart attack if I ever had to jump out of a plane for any reason. Terrified of heights.. that and being stuck in confined spaces.

Something Wicked This Way Comes is a pretty good book. I just recently finished reading it and I was entertained the whole time. Not really BOO! scary, but still creepy.

I think I saw the american version of the first movie. Vampire neighbor girl, right? I thought it kinda sucked but totally forgot about the foreign version. Noted, and thx. I like vampires as long as they don't sparkle. :D

Oh, speaking of vampire movies. The only vampires that ever scared the shit out of me were in the original Salem's Lot. The movie - can't remember if I read the book or not. I was really young when I watched the film and had nightmares over it. Good stuff...

P.s. would love any other scary movie ideas too. I've also been looking for stuff to watch that could potentially scare the crap out of me in my vod menu and netflix but finding mostly mediocre stuff. Evil dead (new version) was decent and made me cringe a little. My husband is a fan of the original but I haven't checked it out yet.

These are excellent choices. Loved both the books and movies for both. I'm a big fan of dystopian and apocalyptic stories, the more disturbing the better.

Adding to reading list. I love me some good zombie apocalypse. And incidentally, I watched The Descent. It was pretty good, thanks a lot for the suggestion.

I just started a book that seems really creepy. THE RITUAL by Adam Neville. It might give me nightmares and yes, that's a good thing. :D

Well, I'm glad you've accepted your shortcomings and are satisfied with getting it in the ass instead of having to rely on your useless, flaccid little pecker to have any fun. I admire that. But this isn't the place to come out of the closet.

Stop bothering me in my Off Topic threads and keep your retarded ass in RnF since you're clearly only here to fail at trolling.
