the greatest rogues of all time have all been gnomes

Str is easy to get, but my only contention with that is that a high strength race can run around in resist/hp gear all the time without bothering with strength - or can reach cap strength without outside buffs with minimal effort.

That's not to say gnome wouldn't do just fine as a rogue. It will. Just saying a high str race still deserves some consideration.

Thanks again for the help. I will make a gnome :-) just didn't want to be super weak. So put all starting points in str?

I believe some would still tell you to put points in STA, but personally if I made a gnome it would be str.

I played a Barbarian Rogue to 60 here.
5 points in STR, rest in STA.

I'm able to maintain ~200STR and ~150MR with a few HP items in my DPS gear. It's pretty nice.
Even gearing into PR or full MR I could still hit 255STR with raid buffs.
Keep in mind at level 60 you only need 183STR to hit 255STR w/ Shaman buffs.

Mrylo vambraces work in a pinch for STR buffs too.

Just please.. PLEASE do not go Halfling. Halfling Rogues are a plague on the face of Norrath.

/agree. I was going to say that on my barb rogue i only have to wear a few pieces of Str gear and then the rest is HP/resists for raiding. Not having high resists will be the only downfall of a gnome rogue.

my rogue is still on resist gear and hits 255 str and hits about 3.9k hps fully buffed.
1433 attack with bard/vog/str:cool:

So, are DEs only rogue race that is KOS to Stanos (Epic Quest Giver)?

How do you get around that? Sneaking? Raising faction somehow?

Wolf form? Erudite mask? Wolf form I'm guessing is easier.

Could an enchanter charm Stanos? There has to be options there... but not many genuine dark elf rogues around which is a shame :p

Absolute best reason to choose a Gnome rogue:

Free plat from Teddi in the tunnel!

Sorry OP for hijacking thread with my own question...going to move to new thread.

Good luck!

Low Str races can really benefit from a high str distribution. 25 sta 5 str is the min max method. My main is a 25 str 5 sta wood elf rogue and it worked out well for a 1st character. My dark elf rogue is 5str 25 sta. It's pretty rough getting her str up ,but she's finally at the point where she hits 255 with the best shaman buff.. so yeah. Sta distribution is a great way to go.

183 str is all you need to cap with maniacal strength buff. Please dont do anything but str/sta though. Green stats on rogues lie.

I made my gnome rogue but I have a mh wep question I have around 3k saved up and I am looking to get up in the 6k range to purchase a wep. Was looking at wiki and was wondering what is the better option.http://wiki.project1999.com/Trakasaur%27s_Tooth or http://wiki.project1999.com/Serpent%27s_Tooth or http://wiki.project1999.com/Rapier_of_Oriin ... I went 25 str 5 sta with rhis guy should I change it?

You're fine statwise. You're looking at like 60 less potential hp with that build atm, not huge.
Between those 3 weapons, Rapier is the best pre-epic.

Dark elf is best rogue by far.

Because the rarest masks are all worth having.

But a raiding rogue gets barb and gnome masks, and a raiding rogue should be barbarian for highest pre primal dps.

So: if you are a raiding rogue wanting highest damage, which is longest living, which is highest resist, be barbarian.

If you are a raiding rogue who will be top end, you will have primal. Be anything. Thus, dark elf is by far superior.

183 Str = highest damage w/ manicial strength. 155 Str = highest damage w/ avatar. Hit the 183 str goal in resist gear and you're gtg.
Race doesn't matter.

Yuuuuup.

Hence irrelevant. In kunark you can be under 183 str, if you are full MR or PR.

But in velious it's actually impossible to not have 255 buffed str with modest velious gear. So go dark elf and make use of all the cool popular race masks.

Barb mask doesnt actually get Barb illusion til towards end of Velious.
