View Full Version : Nilbogcare + FFA Raid Proposal

Alongside nilbogcare (http://www.project1999.com/forums/showthread.php?t=133537), whereby the guilds must halve their numbers at every successive raid of the same target, I propose a free-for-all solution with a few modifications.
The guild that does the most damage, does the most healing and takes the most damage gets the loot rights.
So if TMO kills Trakanon with 30 people, the next time they can only bring 15.
That means if there's another guild with 19 members, they should be able to out-power TMO.
If they still can't out-power them, the next time TMO should only be able to bring 7 members, and hopefully someone else would be able to take the kill away.
What do you think?

I think halving is a bit extreme. Another fraction would make this feasible, but only as a part of a system. All raid mobs being subject to this is also a bit extreme.

The problem with halving numbers is:
Who is keeping track of the numbers?
Is there a distinction between an engage force versus a buff force?
This system seems to encourage excluding certain classes
This system would result in a lot of rots for any successful guild.

Just for useless raid classes!

Rotation + limited raid size? 40 man instances?
-Zerg membership does not help; it hurts - the opposite of what we have now.
Cap resists at 255, make dragon breaths/fears harder to resist. That should hurt some zerg. The rest of the problem with "zerg" is every player on the raid has basically what some of the best players during our raiding eras had.

As a former guide (live) I can only image what a massive and total pain in the ass this would be for the CS staff.
If it were me, I wouldn't just say no, but he'll no.
And as much distaste I have for the poopsockers and alt armies, TMO and other guilds have the right to bring as many people as they want to a fight. That is the essence of "classic" in that you muster whatever army you can/want to a fight.

Aside from all that, NILBOG is the one who proposed the idea. Sheesh.

Nilbog has stated on numerous occasions he doesn't like how large the top guilds are, his recollection of classic had leaner guilds. Truthfully though, large guilds on P99 aren't a result of people trying to zerg mobs. They exist because of general high end game population and the response to variance. TMO, FE, IB, and BDA probably have the player count of 8 guilds on live. I think he was just throwing out an idea to keep the same guild from getting mobs each time, but there a couple of issues with it.

Autocorrect. I'm on my iPad.
I realize nilbog proposed the first iteration. That one only had one reduction. This idea has more to keep track of per mob. And that would be even more headaches.
And yes, I know Deru signed off on nilbog's idea.

My personal feeling is that nilbog's idea will just create 3 TMO and 3 FE alt guilds to get around it.

That idea was posted quickly after seeing two pages of various proposals with T-minus ~10 hours left till raid shutdown. The objective was to cover the problems I see with the raid scene, especially zerglings, and to encourage agreements by showing the opposite of what most plans had in mind.
Would it work with the playerbase we have? No.
Would it be awesome to watch? Oh yeah.

Nilbog how do you feel about having a round of spawns for low-number engage bids in the 1/1/1/1 plan? I think it's the most awesome realistic idea!

Make it so npcs can lag people out on their hate list at random if the raid force is greater than 35ish. Totally classic too. If above 40, a 75% chance rate of making everyone go ld.

Well if you wanted to rule with an iron fist, I don't feel like it would be that difficult to implement.
As soon as the 6th TMO player attempts to help out with the mob, just death touch him. Or prevent him from doing anything, casting/meleeing/aoe/heal etc.
