This games PVE is so bad it makes me want to punch puppies, and yes you have to grind a ton of this horrific PVE before you can enjoy endgame realm PVP.

People are level 50 (max level) after 4 days of the server being open, EQ is WAY slower than that. The PvP is also better than EQ depending onw hat you like. it's less focused on ganks and more focused on player skill and group comp

Actually it is true that the PVE is terrible and you will have to grind a pretty damn large amount of it to get max level.

Again, skip it. (You will after playing 5 minutes anyway)

Are you dense? People are level 50 after 4 days, many many people, meaning they most likely didnt spend 24 hours a day leveling. Meaning in 3-4 days you too can be level 50 without much PvE time invested.

Explain to me how say, for example, camping the graveyard in Mistmoore is leaps and bounds better than hmm, any camp in DAOC. Im guessing it doesnt have the same amount of content and refinement of zones as EQ, but the game itself, the killin of mobs, is fine. There was a bunch of ghosts we farmed on a beach somewhere, it felt just like an EQ camp where you pull mobs into the meat grinder and get used to your class skills for when the time of PVP comes.

Have you actually played on the server? I thought it was too fast, but now that theyve nerfed the zerg xp ill try a regular way up on my stealther to see how it goes.

Maybe youre thinking of Uthgard, which took me 3 weeks of solid grinding to get to level 30. Its not like that on Origins.

Youre just repeating the same thing, explain to me whats so better about staying 6 hours at the same spot in Mistmoore graveyard grinding mobs vs grinding mobs with a group in the Mithra tomb in DAOC. I dont see it.

On my mercenary, i got at least 3 skills i can activate only if something specific happens.

So if I parry, i can chain into another skill. If i evade, theres a skill i can follow it with. I can go behind the mob and backstab it, i can flank him from the side and do yet another skill. Id say it beats spamming shock of fire for 4 levels as a level 4 everquest wizard.

And you cant compare the pvp vs how its set up on red99. Even on rallos Pvp was sometimes more work than fun. With all the PnP, xp loss, still blue in the closet sillyness of red then it becomes really a joy to play.

Might even set some PL groups for red99 expats if they roll on albion, apparently u can PL with a necro but not sure how, i have a 50 necro.

Havent been able to play for 6 hours though, keeps booting me back to char selection screen, anyone else get that

I left EQ to play this game for a while. Was really fun back in the day, pvp was awesome. Went back to play it now. It seemed 100x more boring than I remember. Maybe i didn't get it a proper chance. Also 200 people in a raid group getting max level in a day ruined it for me.

Comparing eq pvp to daoc pvp is like comparing checkers to chess.

Of course you dont need accomodations like stick when you have 1 major ability as a melee (autoattack) in Everquest. You have more melee abilities in daoc than a caster has spells in everquest, and each of them require being not only right on top of your opponent, but being executed from a certain position (front/side/back) and in the right order for combos. Not only that, but it was designed for mass pvp from the ground up taking into account that with dozens of different players particle effects on your screen, being a melee and executing combos would become next to impossible.

Ya there is a stick command, you use that in conjunction with the strafe keys in order to setup your positional combos. It isn't like you are just waiting for autoattack mindlessly chasing casters.

DAOC PvP as a melee is far more difficult than EQ because of the positional styles and combo chains involved. Nobody with any game as a melee just uses /stick in RvR, except on your leader when moving from place to place as a group.

I miss the cry of "Cast shorts and stick up!" from the group lead/main CC when going to out 8v8. :(

I hope they fix the exploits sooner rather than later.
