The "Feign Death" spell, when cast by a Necromancer, will now have a fixed duration.
The Necromancer will receive several warnings prior to the spell wearing off.
This change was necessary because some Necromancers found a way to gain
experience through their pet while being AFK for an extended duration, such as
being in bed for the night. Note: This does not affect Shadowknights or Monks.

This is from a patch prior to this one (http://www.tski.co.jp/baldio/patch/20000428.html) which is a patch date we are past (being as we can no longer bind at TD firepots).

Was there a future patch that we've reached in our timeline re-establishing necro FD to be infinite in duration (or does it have a very long timer? I have never seem to hit a timer on my nec)

Just looking for more info before filing the bug report :)

I remember when this came up in 2000. The inevitable fix wasn't that FD was put on a timer, but if memory serves their pets would automatically dismiss if said Necro was AFK after a certain period of time.

The issue was one where Necros (often in Lower Guk) would FD on a camp where their pet would kill everything safely and the pet would simply not die, and the Necro would gain XP. Mages were doing this too, without FD and could do so because their pets were innately stronger.

This just simply is not the case on P99, because (from what I can tell without being privy to the adjusted code) pets do not have the survivability that they had on Live, at least certainly not the strength that they did on launch. Without the Necro healing a pet in similar situations, the pet will simply die. Only a Dev can answer exactly what adjustment was made to pet survivability, but it is certainly noticable.
