I've narrowed down my three class choices to monk (Human), druid (Halfling) and necro (Erudite). Leveled all up to 15 and I'm still torn.

I really want to focus on one character because I don't want to wait until people have stopped killing in Fear/Hate/Sky/Seb etc. I came to the party in EQLive too late and never got to kill Vox or the red dragon in SolB, so I want to get a character relatively high level soonish so that I can enjoy that stuff before Velious comes out.

So my question is between these three characters which ones find groups easier at high level and which ones are way overcrowded in guilds? I appreciate all advice, but please don't toss out the cookie-cutter "play what you enjoy" answer, I enjoy all three about evenly.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Necro or Monk can't go wrong.

Druids aren't sought after in grouping 50+ except for raid transport, snare, and evacs now and then for deep crawls.

Out of your choices, Monk will be the most desired in groups, followed by druid, and then necro.

Necro & Monk.

Solo the Necro while /telling for parties on the monk. Switch when you find a group.

Use the money you get from soloing with the necro to fund some gear for the monk.

Do Necros get groups as easily as monks or are necros pretty much relegated to soloing?

What about guilds, is it hard to find a guild as either a necro or a monk? I keep seeing in the LFGuild forum that they're both generally listed as low to medium need.

you can level up to 60 in no time on a necro. DAs, twitches, DMF, Necros are excellent pulling tools and you will have what monks don't have : DAs, the ability to quickly heal yourself, etc. We're shitty DPS but can be an asset when well trained.

Monks, well, you will just be another monk...

Druids? negus please.

There are a ton of monks on the server. The amount of good ones? That's up for debate.

Necro's solo 95% of the time. Their main source of DPS comes from DoT's, which in a group setting, is inefficient. Mobs do not last long enough to reach the full potential of a DoT. This is part of the reason they are passed by when a group is searching for DPS. A good Necro, though, will shine in a group, and way more than just DPS

Honestly, you'll want to go Monk.

No group has ever seen a Monk it didn't like. I have been in groups with 3 monks before. One pulled, one tanked, one dps'd. Fastest EXP group I've ever had.

My main is a Druid, and will continue to be my main -- but I am very busy irl. The leveling style of "kill one mob then afk med-up for 6 minutes" was very appealing to me. I also like the ability to port around, help guildies, buff newbies, and the flexibility to heal/dps in raid groups. It works for me.

But I was never the 'prettiest girl at the ball' when it came to exp groups. Necro / Druid are solo-style play. From your question, that seems like something you want to avoid.

If you are looking for a class that is desired, in my humble opinion - go Monk.

Focus and learn how to become a pro-puller from veteran monks, and you will become a valued asset to your guild. Lots of people make Monk twinks, sure - as people make Druid twinks or Necro twinks. Not all Monk twinks put in the elbow grease to become excellent pullers, however - so as long as you are willing to bust your ass, you'll have no problem finding a guild.

Necromancer is a very under-rated group member. They get mez and root for CC. They can twitch the cleric in group or raid situations. They have pets that do good dps and they can even heal with that death pact thing. My buddy play's a lvl50 necro and I can duo bats/bugs in solb with him no problem on either my 55 druid or 46 monk... So much utility it is crazy.

Personally, I rolled a druid out of the gates so I could fund my monk. I do not regret this decision at all. I had to catch my necro buddy who was lvl25 when I started. I did catch him and we made a very powerful duo. (still are). I solo'd a lot on my druid when he and my RL shm friend are not on and grouped a lot with my monk when they are not on.
