when playing on my gnome sk on live, as i levelled shadowstep (or alteration or whatever is uses), i was eventually able to (somewhat) direct the teleport.

is this working correctly on p99? i have been playing around with it on my wiz but i cant determine if its being random or getting caught on clipping.

It's not controllable in my experience. It just helped me get my fat troll ass unstuck out of the hole in the bridge to the giant fort in WW though. :) If it were controllable there would be not much risk at all and pretty op in my opinion.

one of the wizard versions of shadowstep would send you in a set direction instead of random, but i dont recall the name of the spell.

Fade?

fade is just a shorter range version of shadowstep

I have fade on my Wizard, but to tell you the truth I have barely even tried it aside from messing around in the tunnel.

theres no reason to.

I memmed both to get alteration up and switched between the two, they just port you a short distance away from you current spot and its completely random.

shadowstep just takes you farther than fade.

Nice for pvp. Maybe in the right situation for pve but computers are too fast and the mob will be on you as soon as you land.

Didn't wizards have an AA that allowed them to control it?

You can sort of control it in zones with lots of elevation changes. Dreadlands comes to mind, in that it seems you can't teleport to or over a higher elevation. So if running from spires to KC, get east of a hill crest and you won't teleport backwards (west).
