I found out P99 existed earlier this week and joined immediately. I played EQ from start at my 14th? birthday and continued through Velious. I've never been able to shake EQ and the experience it gave me. It was kind of formative for me at that age. I just want to say that in the first week back, I understand why. The community EQ fosters (I call it "shared misery") is unparalleled and, apparently, timeless. No matter where you go, you are bound to the people you are with - strangers become friends, family soon. Other MMOs feel like solo FPS's; only EQ offers the true experience.

Anyway, I could ramble on forever about my love for EQ but I will stop there. Thank you all for continuing the legacy.

The idea of "Shared misery" isn't far off. It's two things.
1) When you play a game with someone, you agree to certain rules, and this is where bonds of trust come from, and trust is the foundation of any relationship.
2) When you suffer through something, especially with someone, it creates that bond of friendship too because of a little mindhack called "Cognitive Dissonance", because you convince yourself that because of the sucky nature of what you're doing, and how you're not the kind of person to put up with that kind of thing, there must be some other reason for you continually doing the grind day-in-day-out. That reason must be the people.
(Hey wow, that's exactly why I'm not playing WoW too! The people)

I've only been here for 31 days now, and I have to say the one thing I have back that I really missed is the downtime. When you have to sit and med between pulls, you have so much time to get to know each other. It's so much better than the
