View Full Version : Mobs Ghosting

Is anyone noticing mobs ghosting a considerable amount more than they did recently? It used to be that I'd run up to a mob in an outdoor zone and only very rarely it wouldn't actually be where I thought it was. But in the last couple days, it seems like this occurs many times more now (nearly half the time it feels like).

Is anyone else experiencing this? It goes like this:

See mob
Run close to it
Cast spell to tag it
Casting interrupted because mob is out of range

Eventually the mob will disappear (teleport to its actual location, I assume)

Also, I only notice it on mobs standing still. Mobs that are pathing tend to be where they're shown. But mobs standing still aren't actually there half the time lately in SK.

Bats in Qeynos Hills are especially awful ghosters

I was seeing a ton of this in NK (wisps/beetles) and occasionally in everfrost (mammoths).

About half the mobs in Skyfire were doing this to me earlier. Without fail, if it was pathing, I could pull it. If it was static, it was really somewhere across the zone.

Also happening in Sro, Oasis, EC, among others. This is very noticeable since the patch along with the zone crashes.

Happening to me as well in WW, OT and just about everywhere I believe where previously I had none of this ever happen. I frequently see higher ping (up to double), but I think it's still considered very good (80-88 instead of 34-44).

This happens to me a lot. Until now I always thought it was maybe my connection.

Half of South(?) Karana was like this for me a couple of days ago.

I was FD around the corner from Hoshkar waiting for him to path when I saw someone run right past him. It was at that time I realized he wasn't really there.
It even happens to pathers.

I have also been seeing this quite a bit lately, yes - definitely wasn't doing it before. Started a few days ago or so.
By far the worst for me in EC and NK.

I had someone run across WW just to find out the Grachnist I was seeing was a mirage...

Yes, I've especially noted this in LOIO. It's not "nearly half the time" for me, but it happens 2-3 times per hour or so, which is more than it used to.

ive noticed this too, probably due to the new tactics being used to catch multi-boxers and afkers. i also noticed that if im afk recently, sometimes i will come back to the login screen. that opposed to the time i fell asleep at the pc and woke up still logged in.

There's a griffawn or enne that spawns across from the NK bridge in EK that was there for several hours during one of my soloing sessions. I could never pull it.

Seems like something broke or the server needs a restart at the very least.

There's already a post about this in bugs section. I have heard that fixing desyncing in TT somehow caused this.

This was happening to me in Dreadlands with some of the Yetis which roam around. It wasn't all of them. Also, my wife was on at the same time and didn't see the ghosting. From my POV, I was standing in front of a stationary Yeti but on her screen I was standing by myself.

Happens quite a bit to Talendor as well.. VERY bad ghosting.

It has to do with limiting information from server to client. Our clients get the initial Mobs spawned, but it takes some time for the client to receive updated info as to where the mob actually is... It seems to load in sections of zone at a time. So if you run around to the section the mob is in, the client will update.

Worst in big zones because they mobs wander so far away from spawn points. Our client sees them at spawn, but hasn't updated the other side of the zone with its location.
This seems to be a problem when trying to fix the desync issue which was fixed by limiting client info.

The worst example I saw of it was a drolvarg guardian disappearing into a wall by hands room with a couple of pets on it, summoning/killing someone as we all scattered for the zoneline and a big train forming after :p

Ghosting while fleeing is no joke.

A ton of the bears in WC are freaking out. The bear pelt business is done as we know it.
