Hail my fellow Norrathians!

The Project 1999 staff is looking to add a few new Guides. If you are interested please click on this link (http://www.project1999.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=33) and fill out an application today! If you have already filled out an application and are still interested, please bump your application and update any information that may be out of date.

If your application thread is locked, please just make a new one.

We are specifically looking for people that can spend absurd amounts of time (ie: at a bare minimum 20hrs a week) doing guide work for the CSR Team.

When I was trying to create my guild, I accidentally started filling out the Guide application, thinking it was a "Guild" application. After a while, I remember thinking "damn, these questions are starting to get really personal!"

That's when I went back to the top and read the first line over again.

Not my proudest moment.

So is there a guide queue tool that runs while you are playing your main character and you switch to the guide account when needed, or do you need to spend 20+ hours logged on to the guide account doing just guide stuffs?

Derubael

You can box your guide account and player account so long as the two don't interact in any way, directly or indirectly, and and are never in the same zone at the same time.

Kind of explains how Uthgaard was able to accidentally do a server-wide broadcast
from his normal game character that one time. lol :)

Aaradin
Aaradone
The A-Team

to clarify this, staff accounts and player accounts are completely different accounts. staff accounts are created specifically for staffing and nothing else. If Uth broadcasted from a toon other than Uth he was still on the Uthgaard account.

for example, i could log in your toon (Aaradin) from my Sirken acct, and i could broadcast or whatever.

Guides need to be willing to actually be in game on their guide account at least 20 hrs a week. Some weeks the petitions are slow, other weeks 20hrs wont be enough, but usually thats a minimum requirement.

it would also help if you dont have a bad history as a player or as a forum poster.

What exactly does bad history mean?
Like....are we talking just someone who you may or may not agree with/like or....
We talking like people who have been suspended / banned in-game/forums or known for causing trouble?

Also what level of tech savvyness would being a guide require anyway?

Should eliminate any players who are currently in a guild on the raid rotation.

Probably a good idea.

Cept the number of players with 20+ hours to spare on p99 every week outside of that group of people is probably not that large. I could be wrong though, either way server pop going up so making some new csr reps deffinetly a great idea.

Good luck with the search.

I've had a guide app in since like 2011 with no reply.

I'd like to suggest you guys try out someone like Autotune or myself as a guide. No offense to the current or past guides, but some of the people who have been guides know fuck all about EQ, raiding, raid tactics, the classes of the game and their full abilities, or general game mechanics.

Now, I realize people like myself and Autotune have been suspended or been at the center of raid scene drama in the past, which I'm sure gives you pause. However, you've got enough people on staff that were brought on because they are bastions of integrity or whatever qualification it is you look for when selecting guides. What you really need is someone who has been around long enough to know how the server and game works.

I mean really, what do you guys have to lose taking a chance on someone who is an actual raider? I think the closest thing to a raider that you've had as a guide has to either be Bisch or Uu, both of whom came from lower tier guilds. Likewise, even the people who have been picked in the past often turned out to be shitheads. I like Uu as a dude, but Cyrius was a god awful guide. Amelinda RMT'd. Alovia stole server code from what I was told. Uthgaard raged out. The list goes on. At least with someone like us you know what you're getting. The devil you know is better than some time bomb of sketchiness like you've had in the past.

And really, what could we do as guides that would really have a lasting and negative impact? I'm assuming there are server logs you can reference and I doubt even with a normal candidate you'd just let them go do CSR stuff without checking in that they're doing everything right. So there is already an oversight apparatus in place.

The track record with guides on this server has to be like 50% - with a number like that you'd be crazy to not at least take a chance on someone whose attributes lay more with their knowledge/time/consistency than with your perception of their integrity (which again, has been a bit off in the past).

Oh also, this server hasn't had a solid GM event in forever. Even just for that you should bring someone on who can actually come up with fun, interesting and regular community events - ones that are more substantial than "oh hey look, we spawned a mob in a zone they aren't normally in, gave them a different name, and buffed their HP - kill it and we'll let you roll for random loot". I won't even mention that one recently where the event basically boiled down to racing all over the world for shit loot (fireworks? seriously?). An event has to either be fun, or rewarding - ideally both... that event was neither.

So yea, officially putting my name in for consideration, and also endorsing Autotune as guide. If you want a positive change on this server, you're gonna have to deviate from the norm - vote Loke for guide!

Guide's are not the same thing as GM's btw. I'm not sure how far the permission tree goes for a guide on Project 1999, but it's not like you have the ability to summon people items or do anything incredibly game changing. I wasn't sure if you knew this or not so I thought I'd let you know the difference.

Played on Povar, Guided on Bristlebane. They diden't allow people to guide on the same server there main was on so put you on another one. I remember not having to pay a sub as a guide, was one of the perks.

Grimfan

They did away with that when they moved to FTP obviously, but you still got Silver and a billion years of loyalty rewards. I was a guide two times on live, one of them I was two-boxing it and guiding on two different servers at the same time, filling out petitions, and the other was after they reformed the guide program with a few less corrupt people. I had a lot of fun doing it and it was a really great experience (I was 16-17 at the time and I had dropped out of highschool in my freshman year so I had nothing better to do). I found a lot of great friends through the program as well. Xev was the server I was a guide on, I played on Povar. Name was Drathen :)

Oh for a time you also got free expansions too! I remember getting LoY for free and a couple others.

They did, but they never removed the free EverQuest from my accounts. I have no idea if they ever did for other accounts but I remember coming back whenever the progression servers launched and I still had free EverQuest.

This is what my two guide accounts look like now when I do /played on live.

The one with 59 years was actually a guide twice because of the restructuring and re invite to the program.

Maybe when the devs actually start doing half of what they intend. I see no reason playing a game that hasn't changed in months.

Raid scene still boring and uninteresting [x]
GMs still shady as hell and make irrational decisions on regular basis [x]
Promises by staff that never go anywhere [x]
Number of people that are chill and don't take RnF serious steadily leaving the server [x]
Velious still no where in sight [x]
Odds of doing something other than logging in and having fun still zero [x]
