So i'm anxiously awaiting my copy of EQ Titanium in the mail... and I was curious about the distribution of players so far.

Are the majority of players maxxed out at 50? How likely is it to find groups or should I count on soloing most of the time?

Im almost 33 now, I started in July. I've grouped 90% of the time I've been leveling.

It's only been late at night when not many ppl are on that I've been pigeon holed into having to solo.

Some of it is not being lazy, and putting a group together yourself...instead of sitting in ec tunnel with your LFG tag up waiting for someone to send you a tell.

There are a plethora of ppl in all level ranges imo.

This is true. You will find though that there are more and more twinks everyday. In my opinion/observations, the real server population isn't growing that fast but the number of new characters is rising (many melee twinks in preparation for kunark)

There's plenty at the lower levels, no doubt - I've had a number of groups.

Was in SK the other day 30ish people in the zone, mostly mid 20's, etc.

I just recently moved getting my net hooked up tomorrow! I will be starting up a new fresh monk as I've been waiting to find something like this 'classic' play myself! Maybe we can meet up sometime and level together or somethin'

Haha, thanks, I remember vividly.... I created my monk in sept of 1999. Running around blind, dying all the time, getting pissed off and breaking 4 keyboards.... I definately look forward to getting ganked by rats & orc pawns! :p

Sid,

Welcome back!

Im pretty new myself (started a few days back), and its safe to say that your not going to have a hard time finding folks to hunt with. That too was my biggest fear: that I would come back and find noobie zones deserted and entire expanses with only 1 or 2 players in them while everyone farmed raid zones. Instead, I came back to a perfectly populated world, with tons of friendly faces. You will see a lot of twinked players, but most of these guys are still friendly (despite their single-minded focus on leveling!).

All this to say that P99 has done a great job so far at recapturing some of the magic from those early days of EQ.

Yet another shout out to the whole P99 team - great job guys, and thanks for taking the steps to make this happen.

Send anleus or blame a tell in game when you get up and running. I've got an extra Glowing Stone Band that you're welcome to. That should solve the blind issue.

I started in May and made lvl 20 two weeks ago. Between real life and EQ Live raiding I don't see the rush. If I wanted to rush to 50 I would just make alt #694 on Live.

This time I'm trying to do as many of the quests I skipped in the last 11 years.

See my first character on Live in '99 was a melee, and to be honest when you're a legit 1999 EQ live newb playing as a melee - the game is uniquely difficult. My entire trip from lvl 1 in 1999 to killing Quarm in 2003(?) was an adventure to say the least. (slow slow slow)

Long story short Kashi and I rolled int casters so we could cap 50 quickly bypassing really doing anything but leveling, because really in my eyes the game doesn't begin til you're done grinding.

Welcome, plenty of lower levels to have fun with. I started 3 days ago and it has been a blast so far, great people here.

The game of sitting in the EC tunnel afk waiting to raid. Raiding is fun don't get me wrong, but 1-50 is fun too and I think people sometimes forget that and try to just rush through it.

I started a few days back and once I get my IP issue fixed my wife will be playing some too. But I can't wait for Crushbone and Unrest and MM Castle and the other fun zones.

I've encountered twinks most of the time. Only rarely do I encounter a genuine low level player. I would say groups welcoming new players are infrequent (unless you mean orc1 in EC). However if you play a cleric you are almost guaranteed a group; play a tank and you should get a group. A troll/ogre sk or the like will have a harder time getting a group.

That said, it IS fun to see a good number of players in old zones.

You won't be blind; at least outside. Something is funky with the night graphics and you can see as clearly as it if were day; albeit everything is a different, night, color. Truly I miss the being blind days :).

I noticed this, too...my erudite wiz sees surprisingly well at night.

Yeah, I just started a few days back. Went to the newbie log in Nektulos and would get destroyed by a wandering shadow wolf or a bear when I was sitting to med. I must've looked so amateur dying every 5 minutes because of that (and spider/beetle adds).

Got it sorted last night and was able to kill stuff continuously.

^^ Indeed.

I rushed through live, not gonna even worry about it here.

With all the RL BS I gotta deal with - if it takes me 11 months to get to 50 - that's cool, cause I'll have something to look forward to each day.

But it depends on one's goals too. To many the fun might be seeing how fast they can get to 50.
