Obviously, P99 has a smaller community than live servers.. and then most of those have twinks with rich mains to support them with.

What I'm asking is what Race/Class combo lvl's the fastest. Something thats good enough to support myself with and possibly a twink later. I played a DE necro years ago when I originally played, but I'm looking for something different now.

I'm not looking for handouts, I'd just like to be able to join in on the fun without feeling like the newb with no gear.:p

Enchanter, once you get clarity you can solo to 50 faster than anyone

mag, necro ench... all good, if I was to choose? I'd say mag. For your purposes. Ench to join the fun, everyone loves ench lol

Enchanters can do anything. Sometimes luck isn't on their side, but they can do anything.

Necros can do nearly anything. Sometimes it takes longer than an enchanter, but they can do nearly anything.

Mages have pets.

if you're looking to blast to 50 and then twink a real character for your second runthrough, mage/necro/enc are all good choices. enc will be the best at farming at 50, followed by mage, with necro in last place.

I disagree on last place. It depends on what you're farming, I suppose.

A mage can sleep while killing seafuries. A mage can't kill Lord/Frenzy in Guk without Lull or a partner.

What about healers? Always appreciated in a group I suppose, but can any of them solo decently?

Shaman and Druids can solo remarkably well, albeit slowly compared to pet casters. Clerics can pick their spots and become root/nuke/lull wizards, but that's hardly a reason to do so. If you pick any of those 3, you'll find more duos n' groups than you know what to do with.

Erudite mage. You can solo naked to 50 in a couple weeks.

So, it looks like after some experimenting with a few classes I'm gonna try a Eru/Chanter.

Which brings me to my next question: Any newbie guilds out there willing to re-educate and help out an old timer?
