There is a massive 60 page thread about it from when it launched but nobody has posted in it for a while. Sounded like the server had tons of problems and people appear to be waiting for the Uthgard relaunch.
If they've worked out the major problems and it's a stable place to play I might be pursuaded to check it out. Been getting the DAoC itch recently and I prefer Alb as well.
Will be first of the week before I have time, though.

It's an ok server if you just want to PvE. These are some posts from the original thread - to give you an idea of what Genesis is like.
This server has alot more problems than just lag, not to mention half the items are in french. Alot of items are not complete, like for example a weapon has stats but no proc, eventhough it should have one.
They also let people get away with exploitations they fix, like how they changed the way xp is obtained, but the players who already had 2-3 50s on the first day from it, kept all their chars. Another thing is how the first 50s killed every big boss mob in the game with less than a full group because the mobs were set to melee like regular mobs, (for the sake of comparison) e.g. being able to kill naggy/vox and all other dragons on P99 with 4 players at 50. This resulted in certain players having 50 and all end-game goodies within the first 2-3 days, this server isn't even close to being classic, it just used the name to attract a big crowd.
I mean, it is fun to mess around on it, but once you get 50 and realize how RR5 Hibs are running around vs your RR2 groups, (unless ofcourse you also take keeps all day to gain RP) pvp won't be as fun as some people think it will be.
Some mobs don't drop what they're supposed to, and other mobs (especially named that drop nice gear) are missing entirely in dungeons and other places.
What's more is instead of gaining RP through RvR (pvp), 90% of players just take keeps all day to raise their realm ranks to have an unfair advantage in RvR vs actual players. They left the keep doors extremely weak, and sometimes the guards who are supposed to defend the keep aren't even there, that's how Hibernia took all the relics btw.
I got banned from the forums for making a post critical of how theres no Albion "for the realm!" feel, how alot of players are in it for themselves. Like 1/10th of the kind of criticism i post here on red99, and here i criticize dev decisions and they let me post. Gotta say P99 feels alot more professional and restrained on being receptive of criticism.
Beyond that, i soft quit (log in still 2-3 times a week) because i dont see the point in endgame. Raiding Sidi, keep whackamole, thats end game? thats all there is to it? Maybe im missing something. It doesnt help that this ridic insta-50 shit didnt get wiped. Now ive got 3 50s and saw non of the dungeon zones i would have enjoyed leveling in a bit.
This is what I got from reading about it the past few weeks. (not trolling the game i love daoc, just so people dont have to read 50 pages)
1. The first few weeks were zerg fest, people got multiple 50's from aoe/xp groups(not intended)
2. End game dungeons bosses were very weak that smaller groups were basically destroying them and benefiting from loot(not intended)
3. Some quests and items are all in french
4. The server resets everyday, sometimes people lost items/plat luckily they were returnned due to roll backs
5. Peak hours have a lot of lag due to the server cap at max and people basically trying to login
6. A lot of people stay perma logged in throughout the day making it even harder to login
7. Sometimes they lock out account creation, so it can be very troublesome to even make an an account to play
This is ridiculous since Uthgard used to get 1000+ population constantly with zero lag, and Origins can't even handle 600 players without the server breaking down.
The only reason that Uthgard's population was so low was because Origins launched and people went over to the shiny new thing. Uthgard has maintained a pretty healthy population for years, and that's despite all its problems (which mostly stem from mudflation type issues with the server being out for so many years). A year ago it had the same population as Origins does now.
Origins felt very rushed to me. In my first 30 minutes of playing I found 4 broken quests and some level 2 mobs that almost always dropped a belt worth something like 22 silver (a ton of cash for a noob). I kinda got frustrated and quit with all the issues / crashes / lag, but I've heard that things didn't get better and nothing was tuned correctly anywhere. You don't see those problems on Uthgard, because they maintain a high quality, classicly accurate database.
Like, on Origins sometimes my system messages (like soandso has looted an x) would just randomly change from English to German to French. How is that even possible?
The server could have been good but it was way too rushed to take advantage of some dissent on the Uthgard server. If they would have spent some extra time polishing the server people like me wouldn't have left to wait for the Uthgard relaunch.
yeah, I'll be moving to Uthgard.
I guess the other day some dude saved the day by using his 3rd party software speed hack to bring the relic to his realm before the server rebooted.
Lots of people saw him do it so he turned himself in for cheating.
This was the result:

Hacking = praised as noble and saluted by GM
lol
how can I take this server seriously after stuff like this.
I was mad my guild leader got permabanned for typing the N word but this makes me 1000x more upset
