Gifs are a valid form of expression, more efficient and easily digestible than wordspam.

Can even involve a great deal of creativity when you are able to distill a thought or idea from something and represent it humorously in a GIF, like Swish's simpsons necro fear thing

Haters just mad they suck at giffing

Gifs are cool. But sometimes I want static pics. Sometimes I want ascii art.

what I read:

[QUOTE=Alawen, I like to get bottles and glue them together in a shitty formation, paint them with cheap paint that I found in someone's trash, then attempt to call it art and get validation for said art on an elf forum for an emulated version of a game made back in 1999, go me" [/QUOTE

Interesting conclusion to draw from what I said. I guess you're free to treat the internet like old media if you like, but I think that wastes a lot of potential in a medium where you can blend in visual metaphor as much as you like. After all, it's an informal setting where we have the pleasure to worry more about having fun than trying to come across as intellectuals.

While we're at it, you should change your avatar to the words:

"Look, I made a painting, I'm a unique and creative individual"

as I feel language better represents your creativity than a small, badly made self portrait that barely makes any sense.

I don't call myself an artist. When I have an independent studio and sell work, then I'll start doing so. My work is all student work. I may hit a plateau and cease to improve. If that happens, it's likely that I'll stop making art and work on something else instead.

I fail to see how copying and pasting someone else's work is creative. I'd rather see a thousand crude but original MS Paint sketches than endless stolen work spammed with 1989 technology.

So gifs can't be original or creative? The whole point of the internet is to submit and share stuff you enjoy with other people...aside from the occasional troll post.
