Planning on playing WildStar? (http://wildstar-online.com/) Already have your Pre-Order and playing on the Beta Weeekend? Join your friend's from Project 1999.

Currently we are playing on the only PvP Server as the Dominion (Name Here when servers come back up) and have a guild called "My Little Pwny" Come join us for casual fun or if you are planning on trying to play the game hardcore. Great group of dedicated gamer's that are looking to enjoy the new game.

We are the type of guild that likes to have a competitive PvP crowd as well as clearing all content. We aren't elitist pricks that will guild remove you for not knowing the game/tactics/etc.

Also, post about some of your favorite experiences so far in Beta. :D

My favorite experience in beta was getting to try it so I can avoid that lump of shit =P

Pros:

The best thing I have to note about this game right now is how well they have pulled off a Sci-Fi / Fantasy world that incorporates guns/blasters with traditional swords.

Graphics are really funny and cartoony if you're into that WoW sort of thing. I think they look great.

Music and Environments are great!

Cons:

Gear is very complex in the first 10 levels. I don't know why games cannot go back to the Everquest model of small upgrades over the levels with even "High End" gear not being too much better than group-able content beforehand. Sadly I think we are doomed to tons of stats including +crit,+strikethrough, +++++, you get the point...

Their talent point system just looks poorly done. The right thought is there but for how graphically good the game is with menu's/etc they should have had a much better system in place for your AAP's*? (Forget what they are called)

Instanced zones, just never been a big fan of them. I understand why it has to be done in a way, but I want to run around and see everyone else doing stuff and competing with them for content. Not just switch instance to see which one my friends/group is in.

What did you not like from your experience if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not saying the game is great, it kind of feels like a WoW clone. But I am really excited to see where it can go and what they do with it. I'm looking for a game that brings back the need to run 5-6 man dungeons and gear grind, running heroics for gear to do raids. Etc. Hopefully they deliver in this front.

Scikala

The WoW clone aspect, and I found combat to be awful. It was was run around in circles spamming your abilities while dodging the red box/circle.

I leveled up the Spellsinger and Engineer to 10 each. Different sides so I could try out the different camps and whatnot. WAY too WoW with that. I barely was able to log in to get those free beta items(the highwayman stuff and board) because it bored me to tears.

Trust me when I first saw info/trailers about the game the humor they displayed drew me in, the game itself repelled me.

I should also note I have zero interest in PvP so that aspect never appealed to me.

Lyrith

It feels like a WoW combined with TERA game play for me. These are actually 2 things that will draw me into this game a little bit. However this can be a bad thing as well if they don't do the right thing to keep the game alive.

I though quest mechanics were actually really neat with hitting certain keys at certain times, or hitting the key repetitively to charge up/use something.

I do love PvP in open world and even more as Arena's/Arena Teams/WarGrounds/Etc. So excited about that aspect of the game, but nearly as much as just true dungeon grinding for gear.

Humor is awesome and has continued through the story for me. I think they have done a great job with story from what I can tell, however the first newbie area did seem a little bland.

During the next Beta if you are still excited at all you should try out a Medic/Warrior, they might give you a little more of the change you are looking for. However with an active combat environment anything you play will be dodge and running around from circles/squares/rectangles. lol

Scikala
04-02-2014, 02:05 PM
Active combat isn't exactly terrible. It's what made me give Tera a go. I think my main problem with it was that it wasn't challenging at all. And didn't really feel fun. I guess I'm more of a WoW rotation kind of person over button mashing. At least with Tera you chained a lot of skills together and attacked to build mana. (I know there's something similar in this but it seemed to have zero impact.)

And I wanted Paths to be something fun, but they all just felt tacked on. Granted I didnt spend A LOT of time on it. Most of the Beta conflicted with FFXIV beta/release and P99 for me. So I abandoned it pretty quickly when it didnt grab me.

Lyrith
04-02-2014, 02:15 PM
Agreed with your first point, but sadly I just feel like gaming like the gold ole days is just gone. There was a way to chain or whatever it is in Wildstar but I don't think we are going to get much play with it til level 30+ to matter I bet.

I also agree paths don't feel polished yet. However I feel like this is something that can be cleaned up easily before launch as it is mainly a user interface problem, the system itself seems solid from what I could tell.

If I would have been in the FFXIV beta, I might have opted to play that one more as well, being a die hard FF fan.

Scikala
04-02-2014, 02:20 PM
It was a blast, it made me love the game....until launch when they did the cross server dungeon queue. That killed it for me. I got to 50 on my Dragoon without knowing a single person. Joined a couple guilds that outside of the creation click talked to no one. A very lonely game.

Ended up with a 50 Dragoon,45 Summoner/Arcanist, 50 GoldSmith, Blacksmith, Weaver, Miner...maybe one or two more tradeskills before calling it.

See the problem I have with your first two points there is how can they expect me to throw down/subscribe to something that isn't finished/working yet. (Yes I know it's a beta, but with the game launching relatively soon...should be more complete IMO)But at the same time I don't want it to eventually be fixed and awesome, then be so far behind the curve that nothing is new and fresh, lose/lose! =P

Lyrith

Very Lonely Game doesn't sound exciting at all...

Honestly, I think WE ALL have unreal expectations from MMORPG'S at this point and compare them to games that have had massive budgets, massive teams, etc. Just look at this classic server and how accurate they spend their time to get every little bug the way it was back then. It took years to get EQ "Polished", same thing with WoW, anyone from WoW Beta to when the game came out, it wasn't "Polished".

These games always had all sorts of problems, bugged stuff, patches needing to be done monthly if not weekly. Constantly making the interfaces better and more user friendly, etc.

As far as new ideas, well you can only come up with soo many new idea's. As soon as the first person does truely come up with the new big thing, there won't be another MMORPG as popular as EQ/WoW/DAoC/Etc til then. I was hoping SWG was going to do it for the Star Wars fan I am, but end game was a joke and buggy as shit.

We live in the day of the Carebears...

Lyrith
04-02-2014, 02:30 PM
And I will also throw in another comment about how "Add-on's" are already setup for Wildstar. As I am excited about this, it make's me want to say a big FUCK YOU to a game that needs "Add-on's" at release.

Keep in mind, I am still very PRO Wildstar at this time. As it brings out the inner Cowboy Bebop fan in me and much much more. This is still a recruitment thread to support Wildstar and any P99 player wanting to go over to that game with a good community that will help each other out.

I personally don't want "new ideas" I just want polished old stuff haha.

The cross server queue is what made it lonely, there was no reason to ever group with anyone.(I think they expected it to flop like the previous FFXIV and put that in to make sure people could still do dungeons...basically killing their own game) And the dungeons were a disappointment. A few of the boss fights leveling up were interesting, but most of it was bland tank and spank.

It's one reason I wanted Pantheon, EQ but polished!(hopefully)

So like I said previously, other stuff to play and the beta was a solo experience like WoW...so I opted for other games. My fall backs are always LoL/P99

Anyone who likes the game, play it. My OP was just a small joke about sharing memories haha. I wanted to like it when I saw the first trailer of Kit introducing the world...alas.

I still get down on P99 and jones for Live sometimes...because this goes nowhere eventually and I know the other stuff is out there. can only roll so many alts.

I cannot agree with this post enough! Cross Server Que's and Instances ruin these MMORPGS. People need to have a reputation and a name, known, and loved/disgraced. Your name meant EVERYTHING. No days, pay for a name change, transfer to a different server, don't care because these people aren't on your server, your alt is more important than mains because people don't know you... It's endless... =(

P99 is always my fall back and stick to game. Even with WildStar I will be an active raider here as much as my Wife/Daughter permit. And when Velious truly launches... I need a vacation for the amount of time I want to sink into P99. :D

I have yet to get 60 on anything. I started back in 2012 late to the party and the highest I've gotten to is 49...because of what I previously mentioned. P99 Made me jones for the characters I left behind and seeing all new stuff.

I hardcore raided in WoW for years, got out of that after the last expansion....just felt kind of pointless after a while. Plus any encounters that I would normally be excited to beat for the challenge was normally frustrating as fuck because you had to carry people who were deadweight(Left my Server First guild during Cataclysm, roommate was an officer and when I moved out....yeah)

So now I kind of want something that isnt a speed race to max level to enjoy the game, which is what Wild Star was feeling like to me.

I've been itching for live again as well instead of leveling another alt. Sometimes you just want to go back home, to your original main. But it's not the same, not even close. However they did almost have me at that free level 85 Heroic Character crap and all the free aa's now.

But at the end of the day all I really want is a huge player base on P99 with the server going up to all of Planes of Powa! =D

That's what I loved about WoW, except how 1-2 months later they would trivialize what we worked hard for so the casuals could complete the dungeon.

WildStar we won't know yet. If leveling slow's down a lot from 20-50 it will be good. However just like any other quest based leveling game, people will be rushing fast and hard to see end game and be "The Best" per say.

I made my 85, meant to make a few since I have multiple accounts...but WHOOPS.

I have my Original Iksar SK on there, the Beastlord I made and a Zerker I got up into the 80s last year.

Hell I was joking about clearing all the Velious raid content on my Zerker since I doubt I'll do it on this server...not dedicated enough for bat phones haha.

Yeah with WoW...Burning Crusade was the pinnacle of achievement until they just let everyone get into places...NO NEED TO CLEAR OTHER DUNGEONS, ERRYBUDY COME ON IN.

No ty.

It's possible that could be the case, but I get too much enjoyment out of my current games to hope thats the case. If I hadn't gotten into Beta I would be playing with you haha.

Getting Flagged for Black Temple was a great achievement. Loved the 2 different higher end raid dungeons to get into the last one. They were smart about making people get keyed for progression, then they went and ruined it all.

Very hardcore WoW player from Vanilla to Lich King.

And sometimes it's about the people you are playing the game with, instead of the game... =) Won't be lonely in My Little Pwny, but I cannot help you with PvP raging that will happen if you're not big into PvP. :D

Scikala
04-02-2014, 03:36 PM
You dont even have to sub. All subbing does is allow you go over the silver AA cap, and with like the 1k or whatever they let you get up to level 85ish...youll have no trouble moloing that content. Whole game is basically free.

My Zerker gets decapitate, which was like ranger headshot....things die.

I get my PvP raging out in LoL on Skype with my mates. PvP was just never what I enjoyed about an MMO, it was grouping and dungeons...eventually challenging raid encounters.

But I decided long ago I wouldn't let the game dictate what I do..so I refuse to Batphone! =P

So join good guild. Show dedication. Batphone when you can, ignore it when you cannot. Support your guild and you will become a full member and eventually get some gear. You won't get dips on first drops or high end items, but who cares. It's about the family and killing stuff. Unless you be greedy... In time your guild will deck you out.

Greed is silly on a server that can up and disappear at any time haha. I just never got to do any Velious content back on Live, when I got 60, my guild was already starting to fall apart when we started NToV and being in HS, I only had so much time.

If you do download, I recommend looking at a guide that explains whats different for people coming back/get a new UI....the default one is ALL over the place haha.

I don't see myself "Coming Back" but I will reinstall so I can destroy some velious content.

Scikala
04-02-2014, 03:57 PM
Well that's what I meant by coming back, still a lot of "new" stuff. Especially if you were a melee character.

And yes that's true, but given that this one is a hobby for someone and not being run by a business...little less "up in smoke" IMO haha. But my highest character is a Bard, so I'm not terribly gear dependent anyway.

Scikala
04-02-2014, 03:59 PM
Also, since you didn't do the free 85...if you want to mess around you can probably get 60+ in roughly a dedicated day.

Just get a warrior merc and you can molo reds and blaze through the first 40/50 levels and grind thereon.

Really just not much hype from people on this game eh?

a_gnoll_pup
04-06-2014, 04:29 PM
It's a EQ2/Rift raiding game clone. That community is one of the most toxic groups of players I have ever played with in an MMO and I simply can't get excited because of the mentality those people have.

They're the kind of people who hate WoW because it's 'for kids and too easy', want MMOs to go back to their roots but spend thousands of dollars on microtransactions (along with a $15 sub), try to progress, and then complain back to the company that has them by their shirt collars that the game is too hard when they try and raid.

Fuck everything about those people.

Scikala
04-09-2014, 08:27 AM
I barely even noticed the community while playing because the game is solo oriented. And theres no downtime, you just spam buttons constantly.

Not like EQ were even if you solo....you still end up sitting around and can talk. Barely got up to level...8ish this past weekend. I want to like it, because it's new...but the only unique feature the game offers is the "Paths" and they are....so pointless thus far.

Ghordo
04-09-2014, 08:38 AM
Even more toxic then the red server playerbase ? Well, 75% of it which is what 50 ?

Lyrith
04-22-2014, 03:55 PM
I didn't get a chance to play Easter weekend at all, but I hear a new interface and lots of overhauls. Excited to see them.

And I hate to do this... But I agree with Scikala again. Other than grouping with my RL friends I really haven't noticed anyone else in the game. I see them running around doing their thing, but I don't care because I am doing my thing. I don't read general chat at all and just talk back to my friends via our guild or tells.

Scikala
04-22-2014, 04:03 PM
Woah woah hate to agree with me? I'm almost insulted! =P

Haha I didnt check it out, since my Closed Beta access was wiped since I didnt get to 30, I hate trying to track down new beta codes every weekend...so I went back to FFXIV.

It definitely wasn't a terrible game in the end, just nothing that really grabbed me. It's the type of game that if all my friends were playing, I would...otherwise, nope.

Lyrith
04-22-2014, 04:08 PM
Your just a lot like me and I wish I could be strong and not buy the new next game that is going to fail. But I freaking did it either way...

I always have high hopes for these games then I get let down. Least Knights of the Old Republic didn't let me down for quite a while. But to be fair I had about 5 RL friends playing it nightly and was in a raiding? guild. I use that term loosely these days as 10 people to do something isn't really raiding...

I have had several friends leave FFXIV, so don't see me trying that... I did install live again and been running around on it here and there before Easter. But really unless I pay that monthly fee or make a new character I am at a stopping point already.

Just need to focus on here and get my NEC/SHM to 60! =D

Scikala
04-22-2014, 07:34 PM
Eh as you get older you(I) tend to jump at chances to game with our friends when we can, its natural.

I got bored after the first two months due to no friends....but a buddy picked it up so I went back, and they put A LOT of stuff in that would have kept me playing.

Yeah I was gold last year on Live...couldnt play it without, so I think their plan is to rope you in with unlocked freedom up until 80ish basically.

I can't deal with P99...the whole neckbeard/cock blocking politics of raiding on this server is a nightmare.

You guys ought to give Uthgard 2.0 (revamped DAoC classic + SI + old frontiers) a try when it's finally back up. It's an old MMO, from EQ's era basically, so alot of things tend to be similar, but it has a great pvp system in place. Check out their site @ uthgard.net or the thread I made in off-topic if you're interested.

Oh I will be playing this for sure as long as people remind me when it get closer to coming back up. DAoC was great and I really enjoyed playing it, I think I only stopped because my computer couldn't handle it when I got out into open world RvR. I want to say I got a ranger, lurk race(shorty) up to like level 40. Loved the quest system and their versions of epics, felt they did a lot of "Right" things. Loved guild crests on shields/cloaks... Just never got to experience any high end gaming on it.

I only ever got to mid 30's on Uthgard before dropping off...came back to this. Originally I only ever got up to 20s because the low game was nonexistent(I started playing after shrouded when they added in the instant 20's)

I think I posted on your thread saying I would check it out when it gets closer...and would try to fill on classes. All my experience lies in Reaver/Valewalker and Merc. - But I've done it all in MMOs.

Agree with this. I don't recall DAoC being a min/maxing game, but I was a lot younger then and didn't know much. When/If I play it, I want to be the best! =D So def want to play with some Veteran's/Sensei's!

Back to Wildstat, Bonus Beta Weekend this weekend! Anyone logging in this weekend? Once I knock out some raid targets I plan on trying to get my Medic to the first dungeon and see what that is all about. I hear it is done really well. Plus I am excited to see the new UI changes.

The combat in general was awesome :)

I mean other than the combat the game is pretty similar to WoW or EQ, but the combat is really what makes it special. You really NEED to dodge and play reactively and I like that a whole lot.

But then I guess people that are used to tab-targeting and love it, will hate this :(
