I would say chanter.
Any other opinions ?

Wizard, monk

*edit* monk gets better with gear but face value you don't need nice weapons to do decent dps; also the ac bonus is in effect for being under, like, 15 in weight?

I'd say enchanter or bard. Both can be geared respectably on the cheap, and both are amazingly powerful classes that require the player to be very reactive. Monk is also up there, but definitely more gear dependent than bards or chanters.

I would say Enchanter as well. I am a little biased because it is my favorite class, but Loke hit the nail on the head. It's all about the reaction time. On big pulls its about assisting the MT, and then cycling through the other targets for mez. The quicker the better for the entire group.

Although better gear gives you more mana and keeps you alive longer when you get a resist, it's not absolutely vital to be a good Enchanter.

Bard.

They really don't need great gear to do great things.

Enchanters do need a basic CHA set, and a few clickies to do great things. Bards can do what they do without any gear at all except perhaps a vendor bought instrument.

I'd agree enchanter. Especially at this late stage of Kunark era, you can pretty cheaply get your cha + int to the soft cap. And that's about all you need. The rest is just your tactics.

I guess the skill requirement of a necro could be argued, but due to the hp/mana regen, I notice little difference in my full gear vs naked as an iksar necromancer (other than circlet of shadow of course).

Obviously you can't do as much (maybe only 2 or 3 dark blues at a time vs 5 for root rotting), and breaking a difficult camp would be harder naked, but unlike most classes, a lack of gear doesn't make it near impossible to be efficient on one.

Necromancer - unless you plan to root/rot 2-3 mobs at a time, its not going to make much difference whether you're naked or not.

hands down i would say bard...your spells cost no mana and if you play right you should be able to avoid getting hit 99% of the time. total twitch class.

playing bard right is also one of the most involved classes. playing it wrong and, eh...you will suck and your grp mates will tell you.

Shaman can solo to 60 with banded armor. Not really skill dependant. Buff yourself. Root. Dot. Reapply root. Dog dog on occasion.

Bard.

Solid gear helps, though. Good gear is icing.

It's bard.

Bard need absolutely no gear whatsoever. Songs don't cost mana, except the the charm line and like one AoE nuke, and in group/raid you could either be wearing full resist or dps gear gear or even be completely naked and your songs will have the exact same effect. The only things really needed are a good drum and lute and that's not too hard to obtain.

When it comes to personal skills, bards require a huge knowledge of the game in general. First, your songs lineup will change depending on your group composition, so you need to know which class can do what in order to not overlap and play useless songs that won't stack. When being puller you need to know the layout of the area you're camping, have the respawn timer in your head and constantly be aware of your surroundings.

Lastly, again on the skill part, bard are the twitchiest class in the game. Melee-soloing at earlier levels means switching weapons and instruments constantly to obtain maximum effects. AE swarm kiting is the riskiest but most rewarding way to xp, the PBAE dot songs have only 30 range, so you have to be close enough for your songs to land but not get hit because one stun means you die. Raiding is probably the most relaxing environment for a bard, twisting resists and mana regen and just follow the pack.

So there you have it, less gear dependent and most skill required. Bard.

You need 2 bone chips.

The answer is bard.

Enchanters need basic cha gear. Being naked or nearly gearless significantly reduces your options.

I think it is a Mage. They cost nothing to equip and it take a TON of skill to live with no CC lol. :p:p

Only because nobody mentioned it yet: Cleric. Good gear is nice of course, but even without gear a cleric can do a lot more than just heal (which requires skill as well). Cleric (especially naked) needs a group to work really well though.
