View Full Version : How to get to Kurns Tower?

So I started playing again this week for the first time in years, made a Necro, and have been following Sesserdrix's guide online and it has been great so far! One of the places he mentions is good for 16-20 is Kurns Tower. I am 14 now and still in the Qeynos area, but preparing to move to a new location when I get 16.
Most likely I will just finish 2 more levels in blackburrow/gnoll fang turn ins, so my question is, whats the best way to travel to kurns tower once I reach 16? Which teleport location is closest to field of bone that I can get from a druid or wizard? I don't remember :(
On a side note, for other new players that are just leveling up from 4-14, I HIGHLY recommend Blackburrow + Qeynos Hills on gnolls. I slowly leveled up to 8 in these areas over the last few days and accumulated almost 80 gnoll fangs in preparation for the quest I read about online in South Qeynos.
I was unable to get to the TURNIN location for this quest due to faction issues in south qeynos prior to level 8 so I just saved them up.
But finally at level 8 I was able to purchase my invis spell (and get passed the nasty wizards that killed me with bad faction), so I turned them all in at level 8 last night. 76 gnoll fang turn-ins to Captain Tulin got me from level 8 to level 14!! 6 levels by just turning in items and not having to fight a single mob. Was awesome :)

Welcome back to EQ, and nicely done on the gnoll fangs haha, some ppl hit blackburrow with a fine tooth comb at times it seems for them
Kurns would be a run for you in Qeynos; you'd need to run through
Qeynos Hills>West Karana>North Karana
at which point you could either
A. get a druid to port you to SRo or BB (to run to Oasis and catch a boat to Timorous Deep, or in Butcherblock to just run for the boat to Firiona) or Dreadlands (to evac from Karnor's to Emerald Jungle, which would put you a zone away from Field of Bone)
B. Run to South Karana and then go to Lake Rathe>Rathe mtns.>Ferrott>Innothule>SRo>Oasis
If you're a good race you can be bound where the PoK book would be in Overthere (outside the wall of town) and again in Field of Bone (near the zonein to Kaesora)
C. The longest way: run to East Karana>Highpass>Kithicor>WC>EC>NRo>Oasis>boat>
in all scenarios unless you go to Firiona Vie or port to Emerald Jungle you'd land in Overthere>Warsliks Woods>Field of Bone>Kurns Tower

Ok so maybe Kurns isn't the best place for a newly starting player since I won't be familiar with any of these zones and risk dieing. Maybe best just to stick Orc Alley in oasis and play it safe ;)

Yeah, totally classic <rolls eyes>
I mean, good on you for taking advantage of this P99 bug, but c'mon devs.

I had no idea it was a bug :( Is it not supposed to give that much experience?

There is much evidence that it never did in classic, and evidently is quite low on the priority list of things to fix (possibly for good reason). But what this causes is people WAY too high for the zone wiping out greens to get the fangs, sucking on the teat of zero risk XP.
So no fault of yours, no; you did NOTHING WRONG. Whenever you can *carry* enough quest turn-ins to launch you 6 levels, that's probably a sign that something is off.
The bone chip quest in Kaladim is also quite .... generous, but bone chips stack so it's possible to carry enormous amounts of them with some backpacks. 13 stacks (of 20 each) can get you from level 5 to 9, which is particularly good for WIS based casters since 5 is when the skellies themselves stop giving XP on their own, and 9 is the next spell level.

Ah gotcha, I don't recall ever doing quests back in the day when I played in my younger years ( think I always just killed things and never reserched quest/turning in items). So I was unaware that it was any different than the original game. Just been following guides online and doing what they tell me :)

Fortunately for me, I didn't come here to play one zone in a boring grind to exploit a bug, I want to have fun while I play :) I will most likely head to Lesser Faydark instead of messing with Kurns, now that I read about the money that can be made there. Just hope the sisters are not camped too bad as the guides are suggesting.
If I wanted to grind the same area over and over again, I would go back to Diablo 3 haha

Yeah have fun trying to grab the sisters camp. I've tried at least a dozen times, including once or twice at about 7am on Sunday morning. Camped every time.

Journey to Field of Bones:
the best way i found it is, get a port to bb, then ride shuttle at Butcherblock Docks
to the big boat:
Note if evil race or class , make sure to have invis on or your faction up on from killing goblins, orcs, gnolls. so you will not get killed by the dwarfs around the docks.
to Fironia Vie:
then it will drop you off in FV run beside lake omen zl, and follow the wall, then you when you see a skull stone, keep going straight it will take you to Swamp of no hope
Inside Swamp of no hope:
run straight across when you come across the iskar bandit camp, outcasts, go past them, then follow the zig zag path into Field of Bones
Final Destination instructions to Kurn's Tower:
then there you are not far from Kurn's Tower by the Bone Pit.

I would suggest /who all for a port after your done with Blackburrow unloess you go hardcore and solo Permafrost Goodluck...
Just hope the sisters are not camped too bad as the guides are suggesting.
And that hope is what keeps you young, man; don't ever lose that.
It'll be camped. 24X7. Again, sucking on the teat of an absurdly low risk:reward ratio.

Boo, Ok I won't even bother then. No clue what I will do, will just stick around Qeynos for now and maybe try hunting in Karanas where hopefully it will be quieter and less camped :)
